I may be having a brain fart but isn't that some sort of Judicial Release, granted by the judge to a place that assist your loved one with Jobs search, etc...sort of slowly let you back into society. The have strict rules but much more lenient than being in prison? Hopefully, someone comes along and explains it better...It's too hot and I just can't think

Brain fart

Furlough is the old term for transitional control.

This is from the Urban Institute's "Portrait of Prisoner Reentry in Ohio":

"Transitional control, formerly known as furlough, is an intermediate release process in which inmates are transferred to a halfway house to complete up to the last 180 days of their prison term under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority. The Parole Board determines whether inmates are eligible
and the sentencing judge must approve the transfer. The emphasis of the program is to assist inmates in the transition to their home communities."

We're waiting for the same thing at my house. Fingers crossed for 8/16.
