Default Food and clothes box

Hello All,

I am new to this site....so, at this present time, I am kind of feeling around!! In regards to the food and clothes box, I had checked with the packaging dept at Noble and was told tht it really didnt matter if you put money on his books or ordered off the site! But, I do know that if you order online they shld get it faster and you save shipping and handling?!?! I think............

And I also know that one item counts as ONE box!I am just staying prayerful and counting the days until my man comes home!!......... abt 6 more months!!

I will continue to pray for each of you on this site....especially the ones that have longer than I have to wait!! Trust and believe that only GOD can give you patience to wait in the storm! AND this is considered a storm that is meant to pass!!

Oh yeah......I need for someone to tell me what does PTO mean??

And how to do that little "ticker" thing....it's soooooo CUTE!!

Oh yeah...one more question, does anyone know how long it takes for them to get their stuff?!?!?

Prison Talk Online is PTO.... See the main (first) page of this web site.

If you want to learn to add a ticker or an avatar, go to the forum for Siggies. Just scroll down the list of forums until you find it.

I don't quite understand when you say that ONE item counts as one box. When you send a package, you'd naturally fill it up, wouldn't you, rather than send just one item.

You CAN send one item if it is a book. The books do not count as Sundry packages.

I'm going to order the food online not only to save the shipping fee, but because it will be faster delivery. If Doc orders it there, the order form first goes to the Case Manager. Then if/when Case Manager remembers to do something with it, she reviews and approves it and then writes up a Purchase Order and sends it to Bookkeeping. Then if/when Bookkeeping gets around to it, they process the P.O. to have a check cut. Then it takes time to get checks signed and snail mailed to the vendor!

Be thankful that you have only six months to wait! I envy you a lot.

Hi I placed an order last Wed. which was the 10th I think. I also emailed the Securepak (or whatever it is called) company at the same time to ask when the package would be shipped so I could let my sweetie know. They promptly emailed me back and said it was shipped the very next day and he should get it in one to two business days. So, byt Tues or Wed he will have his box. I thought that was very good!!! Just wanted to let everyone know, that even though some people may not like only having the one company to choose from (and in some cases I agree) but the shipping time with this company is a plus!!!

Sounds great! Doc is sending me his list and I'll order from the web site also. I had received a food list via snail mail from the company (you can order them at their site) and I sent the list to Doc who is marking all the items he'd like to have.

What are you waiting for, Beth? If your inmate can receive a package he will ask you to order one. Right? He can get an order form from his Case Manager, fill it out and send to you and then you can place the order online.

I placed my order on Tuesday at the web site. Is easy to do too but be aware that you can't make any errors. Any mistakes made, like incorrect inmate #, wrong items, etc., are your responsibility. That ordering program is very easy to use and it adds up the ounces and prices for you as you go along.

hey just wanted to let everyone know I suppose like FYI I ordered my box n a Thursday. It was shipped the next day he had it by the next Tuesday. It was very fast. I also emailed them when I placed the order to ask about how many days it would take they quickly emailed me back. So, even though I know they like the boxes from home since this is what we have now thought it would be nice to know they are quick and pleasant to deal with.

I'm having mixed experiences with Access SecurePak. It was easy to call and talk to them, easy to have catalogs sent to everybody I wanted to have them, easy to order exempt items and food boxes. BUT it's more than a week later, no one has received anything and Access isn't able to tell me whether or not anything has been delivered.

It is possible that they've been delivered and just haven't been distributed yet, and maybe they're suspicious because I sent things to guys not related to me. I know that seems to make them nervous. Sometimes they pull guys in and "investigate" why they get mail or books from other inmates' families.

I've learned to be patient and not worry about it. If nobody gets anything by the middle of next week, I'll start making a little noise.

I placed my order at the web site on a Tuesday and it arrived at PCI on Friday and they gave it to Doc on Monday. I'd emailed them to ask how long it takes and they wrote back to wait 7 to 10 days....

If you placed your order at the web site, did you then receive an email from them thanking you for the order? If not, then maybe the order isn't in the system?? Perhaps you didn't click on something you should have or entered incorrect info?? Call them and if they can't find the inmate # on the computer system, maybe you'll need to reorder. FYI: THey do not go by inmate name. They go by his number ONLY, so make very sure you enter the correct number. If you enter the wrong number, some other person will get that package!!

Oh, sorry, I should have updated sooner. They delivered to all three inmates at both institutions later the day of my "mixed" post. (It's been crazy at my house with grandbabies and a sick cat.)

Yes, they send confirmations of the order, but I have never gotten one (after five orders) that they have shipped anything. I just have to hear from one of the guys. That's not so bad, really, since they seem to move pretty quickly. And it's given to them faster once it reaches the institution since they don't have to inspect everything. Still takes few days if they have to engrave anything, but that's SOP, and getting shoes in less than a week after an order is fantastic, compared with weeks or even months under the old system.

Whiney me, though, I wish there were more food choices.

I have placed two orders with them so far. One was from the exempt side and the other was my wifes sundry package. The sundry has n't been sent yet but it's only been a couple of days so I'm not too worried about it. The exempt order however. I ordered her a television, headphones and a pair of shoes. The headphones arrived and the television, but the television was supposed to come with a remote, antenna, coax cable and earbuds, none of which were in the box and the shoes also did not come. The CO in the mail room submitted an email to the company of part of the mnising items, but did not mark that the coax cable and earbuds were missing. So I had to send my wife a copy of the invoice and a printout of what was supposed to come with the TV. I called access and they seemed to be responsive. They had recieved the notification from the CO an said that replacements would go out within a week. I will keep everyone updated as to the results.

One item in Doc's order was incorrect also....He wanted some Mrs. Dash and they made a substitution and sent something totally unrelated! I didn't contact them about it because it was only that one item. All else was as ordered.

Sorry some of your items were missing, ffbigrig. He needs the antenna for sure. I don't suppose a remote is needed because he'll have the tv right there within arm's reach but even so, if it was ordered and you were charged for it, such items should have been shipped. Hope you get it resolved SOON.

Does anyone know if the items we can order through Access are the exact same things (& for the same prices) they can buy at their institution?

Yes. Such as a tv?? You save the $4 shipping charge if you order it from the web site rather than telling him to order it thru the prison system. Also, if you order from web site, you get fast service. If ordered thru prison system it can take quite a while.

Yes, the amount of food you receive in prison is minimal. If you can afford the cost, it's a good idea to send a food package providing he is permitted to receive one. Sending money for commissary is also helful to alleviate the hunger.

It all depends on who is doing the cooking. Doc says that when their one cook is on duty, the sweet/sour chicken tastes like swee/sour chicken. Then the other cook is there, supposedly using the same recipe, it tastes more like sweet/sour chilcken soup. 8-) They do get three meals daily but I believe only two meals on Sunday (or is it Sat and Sun?). They won't starve. It's not good old home cooking, but it is food, so those who skip meals because they don't care for it, should learn to eat it anyway.

And, they can get the Ramen noodles and other things from Commissary each week so they can eat again in the evening and not go to bed with an empty tummy.

My fiance has learned to eat the food too. He says that a lot of what they give them is expired...like milk, and that a lot of the time he doesn't eat the stuff they give them because it makes his stomach hurt. He's kind of a health nut so he's picky, but he doesn't like to go to bed hungry so he usually eats a granola bar or some soup concoction that the inmates cook up in the evening called swoll. He swears he's gonna whip us up some when he gets out.

I have a friend in Marysville. I just ordered online for the first time. It was way EASY, cheaper and took such a short amount of time.

I'll let you know what happens with delivery.

I too miss the food boxes; but living in Delaware and sending those boxes to Ohio was very expensive. Now he can pick his food and clothing. Maybe that gives them some semblance of adulthood. The name of the site is Access Surepak.

I love going online and ordering everything. I do everything online though, except go to the bathroom it seems. I don't shop for myself, and the only food box I did was enough to make me crazy.

My boo received his first order about a week ago...I'm not too impressed with them - the prices are too high, they sent him some wrong stuff (and now the institution is saying they're going to charge HIM for the S&H), and his tennis shoes were irregular!

Hmmmmm. I ordered a food package from there and found quite a few things that are not available at Commissary (PCI). Vangulley - tell him to look at one of the order forms and mark the items that he can't get at his prison...as I'm sure there are several things he might want. Or is that what he did on your last order?

The shoes I ordered for Doc didn't last long at all and he doesn't walk around all that much (medical reasons)...so I just ordered another pair, more expensive, but it looks as if they have thicker soles. Hope they don't get holes in the soles as fast as the last ones did.
