Default Visitation form question

Do I actualy have to send the forms out from the inside or can friends and family just download the forms from the BOP website and fill them out themselves and turn them in. The reason I ask, there is a place at the top of the form that looks like it has to be filled out by me. Can whoever is filling the form out just enter my name and reg number in? I am afraid that once in there will be people I would like to be able to get to visit me that I wont know how to contact once inside.

Also, once the form is filled out, do they send the form to the facility that I am in or is there a specific place you have to send it like for money transfers? Sorry if these are dumb or questions that have already been answered but I only have a few days left and am having trouble understanding what to do from reading the FDC Seatac visitation information.

My fiance is in Duluth and he had to send the forms out to me and then i send them to his counselor, i dont know if they are on the bop website or not. ANd the person filling out the form can just enter ur name and number. I believe the counselor gives you the forms and there is an address on there to mail it back too

Mail yourself a list of your contacts' addresses and phone numbers before you go in and also take the list with you. You may also want to mail some special photos to yourself on your way in.

There is going to be a limit to the number of visitors you can have. I'd go ahead and mail then to those you select along with a letter and instructing them to leave nothing blank and to send it back to your counselor, not to you.

I have heard that, in many institutions, the form off the Internet is not accepted. The inmate has to get the form and send it to you and then, as stated above, you send it to the counselor (they don't want - and you don't either - your personal information floating around the cellblock). Z.

Does anyone know what the policy for the Marion FCI is? I can't find anything on their website about it...

As far as I know, they have to be sent from you because you need to sign and date it, acknowledging that you've sent it out, not just enter your name and number. I could be wrong though....that's just from my personal experience with the few people I have visited.

I would say call the facility and ask. Recently when my husband moved, I went online and printed in his info, the new address etc. and mailed copies out to his family to save him time/stamps, they mailed them back to me and I sent them in and they were accepted/approved. But it may be different at different places.

For the facility my LO is at, I had to wait for him to send me the form, which had been pre-populated with specific information from his counselor. I could not print from the website, complete and send in.

As a side note, when you get your form from your LO, make copies of it before you fill it out. Then you can give it to others to complete as appropriate.

We completed the forms from the website and sent them directly to my husbands counselor and were approved quickly BUT he asked first to be sure that would be accepted and since we had them ready to go once he got the ok they were in the mail. Many places I understand don't allow this and I would never have just sent them if he hadn't been told we could go ahead. It cut at least a week out of the process.
