Default Fry Bread recipe New Zealand Maori style

http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif Takakau( baked ) & Paraoa Hinu ( Maori Fry Bread ) - New Zealand -

Kia ora koutou
Thought some may like to try our family style of fry bread ( hinu paraoa ) and oven baked bread ( takakau )

ratio: 1 cup plain flour 1 level tsp baking powder
1 cup approx of water or milk to mix
oil for frying

Sift dry ingredients mix in water to a sticky dough,
knead to make pliable ( minimum amount of kneading is best )
cut into 4inch squares & fry in shallow oil.

Serve with Golden or maple syrup or jam and lashings of butter....well ....lashings of everything LOL

Alternatively the dough can be left in one large lump , shaped into a 2 -3 inch high round and baked on a tray in the oven at 16o for 15 mins or till lightly golden on top & hollow when tapped .....
serving suggestions as in fry bread ...very yum !

Blessings
