Exclamation Valley Fever

I'm not sure where this should be posted so put it here. I'm sure if there is a better place for it to be, one of the moderator's will move it to a proper place.
OK, first off I'm by no means trying to scare anyone. But Valley Fever can affect anyone, especially our loved ones incarcerated. A fellow co-worker's husband was doing time in Ione then transferred to Coalinga, where he eventually passed away from LACK of proper medical care! She buried him last week. He had been complaining for sometime that he was not feeling well. He soon went downhill and the staff at Coalinga had to take him to Marion Medical Center, near by, by this time it was to late, there was nothing the Doctor’s could do, he had total organ failure. The Doctor at Marion Med. Told her had this been caught earlier, it could have been treated. Once you get Valley Fever you have it for life, but it can be treated just not cured. Valley Fever is in the ground, it is a fungal parasite spore that gets inhaled and the spreads throughout the body, eventually causing death...If not properly treated! And we all know that the CDC does the BARE minimum when it comes to health care! Valley Fever shares the symptoms of the Flu virus. I am writing this so we make sure this doesn’t happen to any of our loved ones!!! If they feel sick, keep on them until they go see the Dr. Then keep on them or whoever until your loved one feels better. Don’t let the lack of medical care kill your loved one too. I’m guessing that there hasn’t been anything on the news or in the paper about one of California’s Inmates dying while in custody from a serious and deadly Disease. So it’s up to us to try and protect our loved ones the best way we can with what resources we/they have. OK I’m done know!! Sorry if it was kind of long, but I told my co-worker I’d get the word out. I have included some links that explain Valley Fever.

Which facility in Coalinga was this? I know there are at least two there but not sure of the names.

Your friend has all my sympathies, it's hard enough to lose a loved one but this way is so much worse.

My husband was transfered to Avenal in 2006. Two months later he became very ill. Lost 30 lbs and felt the worse he ever had. It took them so long to figure out what was wrong with him. They started to treat him and I would ask what meds he was getting and made him send the names to me. I finally called the Center for Disease Control and talked with them. The prisons are suppose to report it when someone comes down with Valley fever. They called them talk with them-then a doctor called me to ask some more questions. he finally got the right treatment-I feel this was just the beginning of his medical problems. He is now in hospital had surgery 14 days ago for what they say is a another brain tumor like the one he had in 1999-Believe me they are slow in doing anything and will only do the least they can unless you push and push them. They hate that.

My husband was in Lancaster LA County Prison
California when he caught the Valley Fever in September 2010 and today after being released a couple days now he just lay's in bed skin and bones and weak
Last week two day's before his release date his younger brother only 18 years old was buried after a fight lost to this epidemic.
I wish the CDC would do something about it...
