Default Question about phone calls being approved

Are calls automatically approved via the form you fill out with money if designated to that number (my man is at Clarinda) I put a phone number on the form he hasnt used yet?

No, he has to fill out the bubble sheet with your phone #. I think it takes about a week to get approved.

Yes, they were talking while we were on the phone Did you get my PM?

I have 3 kids as well and worked and went to school for four years and now just work - so I know how it goes! Although mine are younger, so that makes it a little easier. I am dreading the teenage years. I just hope my husband is home to help out at that time.

And yes, I know how love is

I have no idea. My husband is a lifer, so I don't know much about any other sentences. Have you looked at the DOC website to see what it says? http://www.doc.state.ia.us/OffenderInfo.asp

I tried to give him the list of magazines & books this morning, but he said he'd already talked to you

Don't worry about asking when he comes home. It's a common question...especially where he is now (medium security).

It's really strange that the phone answers at the IDOC state that the connect fee is $2.00 and my husband (in IMCC reception) is charged $2.23 to connect. Is it because it is reception or the infor is old or maybe they are just pulling a fast one? LOL

They take 5% or something for taxes or something like that, but I think that is taken off the top when they receive the money.

We get charged $2 to connect, yet we keep losing our calls. It's driving me crazy!! We got disconnected 4 times Saturday, once Sunday and 3 times today. I can't get anyone to respond to me either. I finally got mad today and forwarded my emails to the warden, the director of the DOC and a few other people. Of course, still no response yet. Just my vent for the night.

Have you talked to the man at inmate phone accts? He was super helpful to me. And the inmate has to have your number on his acct before he can call.

That's a lot of wasted money on hook up fees! Didn't someone say they finally got a credit for each disconnect? Maybe I'm wrong... can't remember. I'm sorry this is such an inconvenience plus it's just not nice.

Yeah, someone said they talked to Terry in Oakdale. I emailed him as well, but haven't heard back. It's hard for me to make phone calls during the day, but I may have to try that eventually.

I have talked to Terry. He was really nice to me. Not sure what is going on. I haven't had any trouble recently. But now that I have said that I will start having trouble!

Do you remember Terry's last name? If not, do you know if he is the business manager at Oakdale? That is who I sent the email to (he was the only Terry I could find at Oakdale).

I don't remember his last name. What was the last name that you sent the email to? I'm better reading stuff than trying to figure it out on my own.

His name is Terry Donahue. I did finally get a reply from him today. This is what he said:

"Your concerns were turned over to the ICN Service Desk. A trouble ticket was issued and I do not have the results of such.

If you have dropped calls that are believed that should be reimbursed, your husband must submit a "kite" or request to the business office, attn" telephone persons" and have these relayed to me. We do not accept dropped call refunds or any other refunds to be generated from the person who is being called.

In as far as dropped calls, this should not happen with home telephone or regular telephone service. Dropped calls by use of a cell phone is a different matter. The agency is not liable for dropped calls due to, out of service area, switching from local to roaming profile while on the road or moving from location to another. Another area of concern is that cell phones purchased at a local prefix where the offender is located and then it is actually used in another area code to receive calls. This has made dropped calls happen as well.

These are the issues to date that we realize and the process in which concerns are handled."

I'm curious to know how many other people use cell phones like I do (have the phone from where the prison is and use it in another area code) and how many have had problems. I think he's looking for an easy way out. I do not believe this is my cell phone. I have no problems with any other calls.

Dawn, I also use a cell phone.. the only times the calls dont go through are 1) when i dont have a tower (which is very rare, i have to be out of iowa to NOT have one practially or 2) when steven tries to call and it rings once and doesnt do anything else. I don't have these problems when anyone else calls me, and Steven is in the same area code as I am. I think what he told you is pure baloney b/c I know for a fact it's their phones or it would do it with every other person I talked to on the phone.
Just another way for them to sucker money out of us for their own benefit...
sheesh..
