Default Need Help!! (I am about to be evicted!)

I am in a really bad spot. Here is the deal...I started a new job a week or so ago. I love my job. Yay me. Anyway, I was on DSHS while on maternity leave, so I was receiving benefits. I reported my new job as I am required to do. As of that moment, I was cut off from TANF. I told my worker that I wasnt getting paid until the 16th. I get paid once a month at this job and its on the 16th, so if I wasnt receiving my benefits I wouldnt be able to pay rent on time. After that phone conversation I heard nothing else from him about it. I turned in my paperwork as I was told, stating my hours and wages and what not. Well I got no money, and since they figure I dont qualify for TANF I dont qualify for rental assistance either. I have until the 5th. And since I am still short from last month, they aren't going to let me slide. I have to have 740 bythe end of the 5th or I am getting evicted. I have nowhere to go. I have called a ton of places for rental assitance by so far no funds are to be found. If anyone knows of anyone or anything I can do, I would appreciate any help I can get. I just posted my car and furniture on Craigs list to try to sell them for rent. If I lose my home, I will lose my job, because I have no where to go. Please if you have any leads or tips, I am willing to try almost anything...Thanks....

Thumbs up suggestion..hope it helps

Hi, and sorry for all that you are going through. Be calm. Is there any transition houses or 24 hr crisis ph lines you call, if you have not tried them already? Transition houses can help women with children who are lookin to relocate or they can refer you out to other local agencies on your delemas/goals. Also, you can look up Advocate agencies. I hope you all the very best with this. Stay hopeful.

most places that only pay once a month will allow you to take a draw...which is a certain % of your pay. They don't expect you to go a whole month without getting paid. I would also explain the situation to the people that you are renting from. Ask if you can post date a check for the entire amount for payday. You'll never know if you don't ask. Speak up, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Seriously, I don't believe that they can just do that....they are SUPPOSED to GRADUALLY close your account, not just all at once like that...
Someone there (your worker) is SERIOUSLY NOT doing their job.

Here is some things that you need to do:

1) Call the main office there and ask for a GREIVANCE form and a HEARINGS REQUEST FORM.....

Fill them BOTH out ASAP and submit them....

BE SURE on the HEARINGS form to check the CONTINUE BENEFITS box...that way, they HAVE TO (or you can sue them with a civil rights complaint...I am serious) KEEP PAYING YOU UNTIL they resolve the issue which will be at a HEARING at their office....

2) CALL LEGAL AID: tell them what they told you.........ask them to help you out, they can even go to the hearing with you (which they should do anyway..........)

3) Go on the internet and look up DHS for your state, and look up the administrative rules and find out what rules cover this and find what it says and print it out to include with your GREIVANCE and HEARING request forms...and to take with you to your hearing.....

But I am pretty sure that they can't just CUT you off like that....

ALSO....

You need to request EMERGENCY funds to pay your rent, especially if you get a 72 hour notice (you can include that in your hearing request and greivance request too, if you get that soon)......

This is the way this agency operates....you gotta do these things to get them to do their jobs, unfortunatly.........

I hope that this helps....

...from someone who has to advocate for herself a lot....

Thanks guys...I did request emergency help but have been told more than once that since I dont qualify for TANF I dont qualify for the help. And I have spoken to my managers and since I was short last month, they arent willing to work with me this month. (THANKS SEAN...I get to raise your kid and be homeless...good times...) And even if I got a draw, which I dont think my job does beacuse its funded by the state, but will ask..even if I got a draw..I'd have to do it again every month...I am selling my furniture and car..so if anyone knows anyone....

How is it going? Have you resolved this issue yet?
