So ask us! Do you have any specific questions? I wish I was a mind reader so I knew exactly what info you'd like! I don't have experience myself with wrc... but my child's father has been incarcerated since 98'.

i was wondering if there was any way i could make a surprise visit to him i know he has mentioned that he would have to talk to his social worker so that we could get exra days cause i am traveling over 100 miles (or something like that).

where would be the closest place to stay hotel wise?

is it true that you can only embrace for 15 seconds in the begining of a visit and at the end?

what types of packages are you allowed to send to them?(i.e. packaged food from catalogs? )

he has mention that the reason that he got transfered to there from waupun is because he thinks hes suffering pts from a (7 month)stint he did in the hole is that a seriouse possibility of why hes there(ive seen different post of only crazy go there) or is it just a step down from a max prison, cause he will (fingers crossed) be released in a year and a half?

has any one ever met their loved one through a pen pal ad?
what were your experiences?

thanks-jackiej-

Each facility has their own rules as far as what warrants a 'special visit' as they call them. I'm sure if you are coming from that far away, he could set up special visitation so you can spend extra hours per day and days per week visiting him. I'd go that route if I were you. His social worker will need to know when you plan on coming to visit.

Otherwise after you are approved on his visiting list, it is possible just to show up for a visit- they don't need to know if you are coming.

Google it! You can find the best deals by looking at each hotel for the specific days you are wanting to stay. I never stay at the same place over and over unless they are the cheapest.

Yes.. most facilities allow you to kiss and embrace for 15-30 seconds when you arrive and leave. You can hold hands during the visit too.

Each facility is different. Usually you can't send in food items though. The best way to find out is to have your friend/loved one send you a list of what they can have and from where (vendors).

In Wisc as in other states he has to put you on his visitors list.At Dodge, only immediate family can visit while in what they call A&E( the intake time, it's 6-8 weeks) in there they only get 1 phone call a week.

Precisely what I mentioned in my previous post... I think you misunderstood my reply though. In general, I was speaking of setting up a special visit after you are approved for the visitor list..

If you are going to do a suprise visit though you won't get the extra hours, i come from MN to WI to see my guy and he has to get them preapproved and its only 6 hours total extra allowed per year so once they use them up thats it. And they have 4 places you can order items for them from but can't be food they have to get that from canteen so you can send them money to put on their account

Yes.. this is true! No way to surprise him if you have to have him set it up with a social worker. That's common sense.. thanks for your input! As far as the hours limit.. this may differ from facility to facility. My man's family travels from KC, MO, and they got an extra 8 hours to visit when he was in JCI.
