This is absolutely horrible. My heart goes out to this man's family. This thread is pretty old but still doesn't take away from what has happened.

As a side, it was my understanding that the BOP does not recognize a DNR within a facility itself? That they are suppose to perform CPR and a DNR would only be in effect if taken to a "real" medical facility?

The newest form of cpr is to NOT give mouth to mouth because just chest compressions are more effective at saving a life.
Whatever the reason cpr was not done,it is heartbreaking that your son not only saw a kind mentor die in such an awful way but now he is alone in a shu cell instead of with family or friends to support him.
I am glad he gets out fairly soon and I hope you consider getting him some counseling since this must be very hard on him.
My condolences to the family and friends of the man who died.I too pray he is in a better place.

The same thing can happen anywhere in the bop. I only saw one case personally, but an inmate cardiologist (who had scammed Medicare) told me he had observed 9 avoidable inmate deaths. He said if you get sick in the bop, you will die in the bop.

By the way, the Doctor's prison job was mopping floors.

Has this immate death been reported on in the news? Usually when the public knows about things like this, move attention is given to the incident and procedures of what happens in prisons. If it has, please post the link.
