Default Gifting of sacred items from NZ

Tena koutou katoa !
Greetings everyone from TeWai Pounamu New Zealand !
I have a pen - pal who is of Apache blood who does alot of beading etc I thought Id like to send him something special from New Zealand to work with.
So do craft supplies generally go in through the chaplain allso ?
I am aware of being totally ignorant of your cultural ways , and protocols around giving / receiving so if there is anything Id be wise to know so as to not inadvertantly step on toes ?

Blessings

Hiya

Usually you are only allowed to send letters and photos. If a inmate needs craft supplies it has to be obtained by a approved vendor, so I am certain that he can't receive what you have in mind. Nope it won't go through the chaplain.
have a great day

It can be a challenge to send gifts to inmates, but Aya is right about craft supplies. N8TV brothers usually need to be on a certain level to receive hobby craft items. I have ordered items from dick blick catalog such as colored pencils, scissors, construction paper, sketch pads, pencil sharpeners, and glue just to name a few. Crazy crow is a good one, but for dream catchers the wire hoops are not allowed, they do not have plastic rings, so we were out of luck, but check with the prison facility to find out what is acceptable. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
