Loving a Convict/Poem

Loving a convict is not easy to do,
and not many can understand why.
They call us foolish, say we are wasting our lives.
But they don't know you like we do.
They read the papers and watch the news
and when they think of you all they see is bad.
But for those few of us you let into your lives
we see something you don't show the rest.
We see the caring and loving heart.
We see the pain and the loneliness.
We see the vulnerability and the fear.
For those of us lucky enough to have the love of a convict,
We have found true love.






When I saw you come through the door
that spot you hold in my heart grew
I doubt I will ever love anybody more
and I know now that my love is true.


You are deeply ingrained in my heart
I never want to let you go
To be with you, never apart
I love you, I just thought you should know.
