my husband never formally asked me...not that i remember!! i have a really really bad memory!!! but we had both talked about it before he went in. his dad asked me if we were gonna get married and i told him no because his son got on my damn nerves!!! but i really wanted to...i was just pregnant and moody!! so when he was in county he asked if we were gonna get married before he left to TDC and before the baby was born. so we did get married in the county and we were all alone and we got to spend about 3 minutes together after we said "I DO". it wasn't anything major though!

It was love at first site for me and my man but different circumstances prevented us from being in a committed relationship until about a year or 2 ago. When we finally decided to be a real true couple and stop the bull he got locked up a short time later.

So while he was in the jail, I use to talk on the phone all the time and I use to make calls for other inmates who wasn't fortunate enough to have money to make calls themselves. So one day I was tired of making calls for his friends but he kept trying to make me write this number down and call it. I was telling him "no I don't feel like it" and he was like "baby do it for me please..it's the last one" So I wrote the number down and it was 627 7963 and if you look on your phone it spells out MARRY ME!!! I was so excited and shocked and I thought it was the cutest thing in the world. I must admit it took me a minute to figure out what it said and I almost messed the moment up. But anyways that was on October 14, 2007 and we are getting married on August 8, 2008 (8/8/08) which is very special cause we been together for 8 years and 8 is a lucky number and means eternity.

well we have always talked about marriage before he went in. and one day he called me from the jail and asked if i would 3 way his mother and put the phone on speaker and call my mother into the room. i thought that he was going to tell us that he had finally gotten a bond reduction. but just as soon as his mother answered the phone he began to talk about how much he loves me and how much he appreciates me standing by him and not giving up on him or us. of course i started crying, and then he said "thats why i couldnt imagine my life without you boot boot, will you marry me?"
that was the most touching moments of my life. and of course i said "aww boot boot, yess ill marry you!"

my loverboy asked me in county. lol. he was soooo nervous!! i actually asked him.. "why are your hands so wet?!" and he said that he had just got out from the shower. well anyway, he asked me "so when do you want to get married?" cuz we had talked about it before... and i said "well how soon do you want to get married.. what are you trying to say right now...?" and he looked at me and said "baby, this is for real... will you marry me.?" i was like totally shocked... but of course i said yeeessss. sooo were getting married! march 21st to be exact!

It was back in 2000 when I was very pregnant with our 1st child. I noticed he kept checking the mail everyday. He normally never cared about the mail that much so I asked him why he was all of a sudden so interested in the mail. He said he had ordered something cute for the baby & was waiting for it to come. When his package came he told me to close my eyes & when I opened them he had sat a ring on my stomach. He asked me to marry him & I balled like a baby. We didn't end up getting married til 2002 though after we had gotten better jobs & could afford to get our own place & had moved out of my mom's house.

Even the ones that arnt romantic are till happy!

I expecially like that one about being proposed to in the middle of no where on a dock with his own ring. Thats the most romantic to me actually.

And congrats on soon to be married bnj112307!

He does it over the phone about 7 months ago sayin', "Pinestraw. You've always been there for me, through every thing Ive put you though." I was like um k? he then continues to go on about how wonderful and everything like that. then after about 15 min of telling me how perfect I am (which Im not lol) he pops the question when the global tellink lady says "You have one min remainin" I was in shock and didn't know what to say. I studdered and stammered and then replyed "I love you, yes!" right as the phone died.

My man and I were really good friends in high school. He always wanted more but I thought we just made good friends. We made a pact that if we were both single at 30 we would get married. I didn't ever really think about it again, but then I got in contact with him again and the feelings were A LOT stronger now. We talked about that pact (somewhat jokingly) but then realized neither one of us was really joking. So at one of our visits he looked me in the eyes and told me how much he truly loves me, and he wants to be my husband more than anything.

Oh, and our plan is to get married the day BEFORE his 30th birthday. heehee

I remember I was sitting on the couch getting ready to cook dinner, and he just got home. He was late getting home because he said he had to run to the store with his dad. Which in reality he was getting the engagement ring. So anyways he came into the house and was sitting in front of me and I was talking and talking and talking, not knowing he was about to propose, and he asked me to shut up for a second(which he never tells me to shut up, but I wouldn't stop talking lol) because he needed to ask me something. He started to cry and asked me to marry him. It was sweet!

Its pretty much like mine accept D said "why didnt you tell your friend we were getting married" I say "uh...cause I didnt know we were"...shortly after that I woke his wife! LOL!

he had the police pull us over leaving the state fair.they arrested him to my care and sentenced me to marry him. it was rather cute but really nerve racking. and look at us now hes in prison for 3 years and i'm waiting,.

hi all.

my fiance' and i had been talking marriage for a while after it was decided that i would move to be with him when he came home. we've been dating long distance since we met. i figured we would get married shortly after he came home. i started planning in my head what type of wedding i would want to have and shared my ideas with him. he told me i could have anything i want.

around thanksgiving '07 he said he didn't want to wait anymore, he wanted me to be his wife now. i told him since he is pushing forward instead of wating to come home to pick a date and make the arrangements. the next day he picked the date. 8/16/08 which is a combination of our birthdays 1/16 & 8/3. he said i will also have the summer wedding which i always wanted. i told my family we planned to get married. we told his mom on new years' day.

i've been joking for months that how am i planning a wedding and we are not engaged. he told me don't worry about that. he proposed to me at our last visit 1/21 @ 1:40pm. he had been nervous and fidgety all weekend. i mean palms sweating, red cheeks, blushing, fast heart beats. 10 minutes before i was about to leave i was like 'you've been acting crazy all weekend... what is WRONG with you?' he starts to stutter and gets down on one knee and tells me how much he loves and appreciates me and with tears in his eyes he asked me to be his wife.

we were sitting right in front of a co, cuz my man had recently been put in the hole. so when he got on his knee to propose she was telling him to get up b4 the cut the visit short.

he wouldn't get up until i said yes and he kissed me.

that week he asked my mother for my hand in marriage. she said yes. our parents want us to wait until he comes home.

but i'm picking up our marriage license next week. i will be a summer bride despite their objections to wait until he's home.

its not what i envisioned what the proposal would be like, but its our experience.

We just kind of knew we would....we've known eachother for 15 years, but one day we were at his friends house watching Nascar and started joking that we should just get up and go to Vegas...so we all 3 went, but when we got there all the chapels were closed, they close at midnight now...so, we drove ALL THE WAY back and got married at an income tax place here...we're renewing our vows on Halloween this year and going to do it proper, with my Daddy walking me down the aisle...I CAN'T WAIT...

At the time the song "Put It On Paper" by Ann Nesby and Al Green came out. He called me and said listen to this and I was about to get angry with him because I did not want to listen to a song, I wanted to talk to him. Then I started listening to the words and he said "Do you love me?" and I said "Yes" then he replied "Prove It" just when they were singing "Put It On Paper". That next visitation day he got down on his knees in the visitation park and formally asked me.

It was payday. I got his check for him and he wanted me to cash it and bring it to him. So I did. I picked him up from work. We stopped at the store on the way home. When we got home he went into the kitchen. He started yelling at me "Come out here and tell me what's wrong!" I was mad because the whole house was sparkling clean. I went out there with an attitude wondering what the problem was and there on the counter set a beautiful engagement ring and a gold braclet that said "Someone Special" on it. I immediately started to cry tears of joy. He laughed at me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes a million times and he put my ring on and hugged me and kissed me. We rented a movie to watch that night but all I could do is stare at my ring! That's the happiest i've ever been. I miss him so much.

You all have been great - just reading all the stories, the romantic ones and and the not so romantic ones are still good. I can be a hopeless romantic, but since hearing of the set off I had almost given up on the possibility of getting married. I don't want to get married while he is incarcerated, and he respects that. When we first met, we met as pen pals and neither of us wanted a relationship, but shortly after, not even three months later, he told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I denied it - he couldn't know what he was talking about because we didn't know each other well enough. Now, years later and seveal thousands of sheets of paper - we both know that we love each other enough and want to be in each other's lives forever. He has asked me to marry him several times, so I don't know which story to tell. But I am glad that you have shared your stories. It is helping me get through this difficult time.
