Mark has been set an execution date for the 1st of July 2008.
It should be considered serious.

Thinking of all those touched by this terrible situation.

It touches me! I feel sad, when any goverment thinks that killing a human being is just in any situation. Yes I do feel for the victim and their family, it is horrible to lose a loved one to crime. I also feel for the person to be executed. Murder is still murder, under any guise.

Mark is my friend. Today I got a letter from him, he didnt know about the date, but we both did know that it would come soon.
He told me not to worry so much.
I dont know what to do now. These days are so horrible. I wanted to visit him, but I am not on his list yet...

I am sorry to hear about the date, all these executions let me feel so helpless, even so someone is condemned, he is still a human being and to kill him also doesn`t bring back the victim.
These executionas are so unnecessary and brings so much more sadness.
You are in my thoughts also sweetnina.

I am not the first one who asked for that :

Could please somebody send my friend Mark a nice card?
He told me yesterday that he is now completely alone in the death watch cell, no neighbors, nothing.
I am sure it would help him alot!!! I am not allowed to show his address here, so please PM me!

Mark is okay - he is worried about his family and friends and he always tells me not to worry so much about him. We share alot of letters right now, I write him every day, sometimes twice a day, to keep his mind up. I really appreciate his friendship. His visitors list is frozen now so we wont be able to see each other before July 1st.
Now and then an officer talk to him, but thats all human contact he has right now. Fortunately he is allowed to call his mom twice a week. He isnt allowed to go out anymore so he is in his cell for 24 hours a day, a few steps away from the execution chamber.
A couple of good lawyers is working on his case right now and so he has still hope.
I know that he did a horrible crime and there is no excuse - but for me he is only a lost boy and also a wonderful friend. Nobody deserves to die, it cant bring closure. Only forgiveness does.
Mark my friend, stay strong.
And thank you poppyfanta for asking. Its so important, especially in his case, that people understand that he is still a human being, not a monster. Its easy to hate and execute a monster, but its so hard to loose a friend.

Thankyou for up dating us how he is doing.No one deserves the death penalty,it does not matter what they have done.Some of my best pals are on death row.
