My husband should be packing up and heading out to CMC within the week. He had his interview for CADRE on July 22 and found out today he's heading there. Will be back with more updates, as I'm sure I'll be getting alot of them.

Well, this is what I found out about Corrections Medical Center so far. My husband says that when he first got there and was taking his property up in the elevator, the 3 CO's that were in there with him were very polite to him and started conversation.
He says that so far he has been treated better than at any other place he's been in in the last 10 years.
He lives in an 8 man dorm and when he calls, the place is quiet!! The phone calls are 30 minutes long and have jumped from $1.01 to $3.35, but I havent changed the number yet.
The food sucks no matter where you go. He works in the Hospital part as a porter for a couple hours a day and then will go over and play cards or Dominos in the Hospice area for something to do.
When I tried to set up an initial weekday visit, which is required at first, they said they didn't have his folder there. Apparently, they need his folder as opposed to what is on the computer in the case managers office. Once they get that, then he has to wait out his 7 days before the initial visit. After the first weekday visit, then I can go on weekends.
I can have 4 visits a month, but they are 2 1/2 hours long. If I combine them into twice a month, it will be something like a 7 hour day visit. Looks like there might be some combining going on.
This is what I have gotten so far. I'll add more as time goes on.

Default Mansfield Correctional

When he was transferred to manci, I could write to him but he had to be there 10 business days before we could visit. Sometimes the food is good, then there are the bad meals. He was moved to his permenant bldg a couple of weeks ago. All that is in the cell is bunk beds. The other furniture was taken out for the dog program. He has a good celly and they hope to get into a cell with furniture, or drag furniture to their cell. It was supposed to come with shelves, desk and chair as well as beds. He is using his locker on its side for a table. Visiting day is determined by the last digit of his number. In his case it is 9 so he gets visits on odd days (9 21, 29). Visits are Tuesday thru Friday, Sat by appt. vending machines use the card. He hasn't been there long, so we have only made two visits. The CO s have been courteous and helpful so far. Visting starts at 8am and I believe goes till 2pm. We only last until 11:30 or so. Phone calls are only 15 minutes. We ordered warm clothes from access securepak and we were surprised that he had them in about 2 weeks. I ordered some food as a Christmas gift two weeks ago and it hasn't shipped yet. You register by mail after downloading the visiting forms and you include a copy of your driver's license. We sent ours to the attn of his case mgr. So far they are tending to his medical and mental needs. He is disabled and has several mental issues. The commissary seems to be well stocked with variety. I believe he fills out the commissary order one day and picks it up the next. He is trying to stay around 25.00 a week at commissary. He has extra expenses that have required an extra 10. to 15. dollars. He buys coffee and trades some of it to have laundry done up nice. He has to get extra envelopes to pay for haircut. He has had the little mirror he shaves with stolen 3 times now. He had to buy a good lock to secure his locker. He has asthma and catches cold easy, so he has to keep cold medicine he can buy at commissary. If it gets too bad, he has to pay 3.00 to see medical for help. All of these things are the extras I mentioned. He can't go to educational or vocational offerings until he is within 5 years of discharge (and that totally sucks). He is assigned to the kitchen for 3 months, but hadn't started the last time I heard from him. I think that is all I have found out so far.

If anyone could tell me anything about Belmont Correctional Camp, Id love to hear any information whatsoever. Im not even really sure what the difference is between a camp and an institution? Perhaps its the same thing? I do know that my bf is happier there than he was at county and LorCI and is able to call as frequently as he would like, however I encourage him to write, as its more theraputic for him I believe and also bc the calls are around $5.75 through my landline provider, Cox Communications, so only two calls per week are accepted. I havent been down for a visit, although I did turn in my paperwork, only bc its a 3 hour drive for me. I would like to go soon though, and when I talked to the institution they said that reservations needed to be made 30 days in advance, so obviously it will be some time before I get down there anyway. Anyway, any other information, such as conditions, and privileges and programs that he can get into would be very helpful to me. He is a level 1 security and I do know that this is the lowest security class you can have.

Default Noble Correctional

Hi! My husband is at Noble Correctional. Visiting is 5 days a week (Wednesday-Sunday) - you choose morning or afternoon - Morning is 8am until 11:30am, Afternoon is 11:30am until 2:30pm. You need to make a reservation by calling (740) 732-5188 (they don't take reservations on Monday or Tuesday). If you want a weekend visit then you should call 1 month in advance. You can have 2 visits a month and you can schedule them both at the same time. You can not schedule a visit until you are an approved visitor, which means you need to fill out the visitor application and mail in prior to the visit. When you get there you sign in, then wait until they call your inmates name. When they call his name, you go up to the desk again and give them your ID, they will then put it in sort of a name tag thing that you attach to your shirt. Then you wait until they call his name again, at this time you will go through security. Make sure you don't wear anything too tight, no holes, no low cut shirts, etc.. I have seen them turn several people away b/c of the dress code (I always take extra clothes in my car just in case). If you want to buy any food/drinks during visitation then before you go back (in the lobby), you will need to buy a card ($2) to put money on for the vending machines. When you get into the visiting room, there are several little tables in the room. There are 3 chairs on one side for the visitors and one chair on the other side for your inmate with a table in between. You get one kiss and hug in the beginning and one kiss and hug in the end. Although, children are able to be held by the inmate the whole time and get lots of hugs n kisses. If you want a picture taken with your inmate then he should get a ticket for that at the commisary prior to the visit - their only $2 or $3 per picture. You can get up and go to the bathroom at any time. The inmates will get bathroom breaks as a group. There is a reading room for kids to go in and color/read. You must sign them in but they can be in there without you once you signed them in. Well, that's all I can think of for visiting right now but if I think of anything else I will post it. If anyone has any questions about Noble then feel free to ask.

Hey my man is in Noble too and that is excellent info on the visit. As for the guys they are in dorms they all have jobs some are better than others, there are not many programs, but what they offer is decent. They have the canine program, and a drug rehabilitation SOS that is difficult to get in, they also have schooling right now there is a waiting list I think or maybe it is just that they only take you closer to release. The CO's have been nice to me at visits. If I Can be of any more help please pm me. I would really like to talk to some others that have loved ones in Noble.

Default Madison

My son was just moved to Madison. Now what do I do about setting up visits? Do I fill out the paperwork and mail it in, or take it with me on the first visit? We haven't heard from him, but when I went out to look I saw that it now said Madison. How far in advance do I need to call for reservation? Can I call before he calls home? Do I have to call during the week, or can I call on the weekends? Any and all information helps. Is this a place where we have to have the credit cards?

Thanks in advance!

Madison uses the vending cards. Take a 5 to get the card out of the machine and then you can add money in any denomination.
I sent you a PM regarding the visits, call to be sure you transferred from his reception facility.
When you initally go in, you need to go to the basket on the counter to your left and sign the visitors form and take a number. On the table there are cards you can fill out to make reservations. Immediate family get 3 visits a month there. You can reserve up to 30 days out. When they call you to process you, give them the cards and they will confirm while you visit. Just remember to pick them back up on your way out. For the upcoming visits, you can just bring the card with you, it will have the conformation number on it already and it saves you having to go through the busy signals that go on forever there.
The first visit you will have to reserve over the phone. It's a pain, but as long as you remember the cards, it will be your only time dealing with it.
$40 on the cards per visit. The food is reasonably priced. The CO's in the visiting room are really nice too.
If you do need to fill out visiting apps again, they need to be sent in and the case manager will let him know when you are approved, but if you visited in reception, you should be good to go.
If I forgot anything or you have any other questions, let me know and I'll help you the best I can. I spent more time visiting there and hearing about the place than I care to remember, but all in all it was ok.

Default Hello Sara

I was reading your message and was hoping that maybe you could answer my question. My boyfriend has been in LORCI since 6/4/09. He has been calling and writing frequently, however, the last time I spoke with him was on Aug. 31st. I have called up there to see if he is okay and they are so rude. They just say, "Everybody's okay here!" and hang up. So I was wondering if they are "in the hole" or on "lockdown", are they still able to receive mail or send out mail? He gets out next month and on the computer it still shows him there. The mail has not been returned, so I'm assuming he's either gotten it or they are withholding it. I wish there was a way for me to find out if that was the case. Everything just kind of ceased immediately and I haven't heard from him since. I hope that he is okay. Thank you for your assistance. If you have any information that you think is pertinent, please share. Thanks again Sara.

Search on "Lorain correctional Ohio" At the bottom left are the visiting instructions and you can click on "visiting page" for info on how to be approved.

I visit OSP (Ohio State Penitentiary) a few times a month. Certain rules are strictly enforced but others are not as "written in stone".
You come in and check in at the front. If this is your first visit, make sure to bring a 5 dollar bill and whatever other money you want to put on your vending card. The machine is in the lobby as you enter. You pay for the card with a 5 dollar bill and 3 of that is credited to your card. I have loaded over 20 on the card before but nobody seems to know what the limit is. You will not be able to take cash through to your visit and will not be able to go back out and reload your card... so make sure you have the 5 dollar bill and load whatever you need before you go through the metal detector.
If you have a jacket/coat, they WILL check your pockets. Absolutely NO low-cut OR cut-outs on the shirts... no tight jeans... NOTHING above the knee. No wrap-around skirts. No hats.
After you go through the metal detector, you will go to a small room on your left and check in with the visiting staff... who usually is THE NICEST lady. She is very kind but professional. Anyhow, you give her your license and she gives you a visiting badge.
Next you get into the elevator in that room and press 4. when you get up there, you will press a button and they will open the door to let you into the main visiting room. (sometimes that last step is unnecessary because the door is already open). There is a guard station and you tell them who you are visiting. MOST visits are contact and held in that room. Death row visits are "semi-contact". This means there is a cut-out in the window that is approximately 8 inches by 3 feet. There are other select visitors (non DR) who have no contact... they have to yell through the glass. I have been told this is because of behavior issues.
There is a children's reading room which is pretty lame... but has games, cards and books. I don't let my daughter stay out there with the inmates while I am in the DR part though. I don't trust strangers.
You have to call 24 hours ahead of time and visiting for DR (not sure if it is that way for all inmates there) is Wednesday through Sunday except for major holidays. There are 2 visiting slots a day. The morning one is 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and then the afternoon one is 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You are allowed 3 visits a month... with a "special visit" possible every 3 months with good behavior and permission from their case worker and the warden. It means an extra visit in the month.
Handholding is allowed throughout the visit... kissing at the beginning and end. You can pass food/drink to the inmate and then you throw out their garbage. There are vending machines for pop, sandwiches and such, junk food and coffee/cocoa/etc.
They let you know 5 minutes before the end of the visit.
Any other questions just let me know... I have visited so many times that I know the ins and outs pretty well. lol

CRC Orient, OH HELP PLEASE!!! My man is due to be in CRC Orient, OH tomorrow. I have a few questions regarding phone calls threw GTI Global Tel Link (i read bad stuff but what can we do when we want to chat with loved ones??) if anyone can help me out?
I live in Cin area - anyone know how much per call and min they charge?
I see alot about getting blocked for reaching $200 - what else can cause a block?
This is my first (and last I pray) time ever being with a man that has to serve time so ANY info regarding CRC Orient Ohio would be so awesome. So far it does not sound good at all (not that it should but you know....)

Global Tel Link requires pre-payment. They blow but they are the only option for a lot of Ohio prisons.

Thank you everyone who can help me out!!!

My Hubby & Son both are there, since last Monday (19th). I just heard from my Hubby for the first time on Sunday(25th). Havent heard from my Son yet. Guess that's because he hasnt put any numbers on his allow to call list yet and its up to the inmate to do that. This is what they told me this morning. They have info on all that they need to do & how to set it all up. As for GTL, what I did was call them (when they got to CRC), tell them you want to set up a pre-paid State Acct. the facility CRC, in my case I put 50.00 on acct. my calls are only $1.01 per call, however they had told me when I set it up that the calls would be approx. $5.00 per call. Not sure what the cost will be for you, (from Orient to where you are) but you can ask them (GTL) when you set up acct. The min. for State acct is $20.00 to set up, you will need a credit card or pre-paid card in your name and the phone number has to be in your name. Then by the time your man can call home you will already have account set up. The first thing you will get is an automated call from GTL confirming your approval to accept calls from your man & for your number to be on call list, etc., just listen & follow the prompts. Then when he attempts to call you he will then get through. As for blocks, they dont put blocks on pre-paid accounts.
