I believe it should be privileged based, with only one female allowed on the list every 6 months. This is to keep issues like cheating and drama out the picture. Also, it should go by a case by case basis. What if someone is in jail for sexually abusing people and the victim comes?

could you imagine how CRAZY the prisons would be if that happened? the prisons would be full of people makin babies lol. there would be a huge baby boom!

I think that every person has that right to have conjugal visits every state should allow them, everyone has needs. However, they should be based on good behavior, plus what the crime was, plus how much time they get.. I also feel that they should test both partners before hand plus not be allowed to reproduce. I'm sure the prison system don't want to be responsible for any unwanted children or STD"s.

First off i dont think that a victim of a sexual abuser would come to meet he or she in prison to have sex... exspecialy if the person is in jail for sexually abusing them..

I think it would be nice, but NO...I don't think they should be allowed. After all, the Inmate is there for breaking the Law...if they're (the Inmate) rewarded with everything in Prison, then what is holding him or her back from breaking the rules of society upon release??? They won't care if they continue going back & fourth to Prison if they have it good in there.

Some of the laws inmates are sentenced on are petty & they get hefty prison time for it, MORE than they should, some inmates are actually INNOCENT, were set up by cops or others, people lied & they were arrested, some did something like didn't show up at parole or had contact with a police officer while on parole (NO crime committed), so WHY should they be punished in this matter? It's NOT rehabilitative to not allow conjugal visits to married inmates, it causes the Opposite effect! And it Shouldn't ONLY be allowed for lifers or long term inmates. I went through this 1 time already with my husband, he was gone for 14 months & though I did NOT cheat it changed our relationship once he came home. We're Still working on it & hoping it'll be better this time...Hopefully he'll be Only be gone 10 or 11 months this time, his LAST time in, he says...At 41 he wants to spend as Much time as possible with the ones who love & support him So much, his family that He loves So Very much! He will do Anything in his power to avoid going back in there! But if they allowed me to get a trailer visit even in the short time he'd have to do by the time he gets to ptison I'd be there in a Heartbeat, Whatever I'd have to do to get there & whatever I'd need to bring with me! But we're thinking he's gonna get a 3 month boot camp (Willard) & they don't allow that there )again, Only in max with Many years to serve!

I think CA could ease their budget crisis by charging for them.. because keeping track of who has earned the right for that with good behavior etc would just cost them money, and its too much trouble, the counselors are overburdened as it is. BUT I do think that only married men should get them... Come on Ca get creative in getting out of debt! I would pay if we were married..

I've just got slagged off royally on another board for arguing in favour of automatic conjugal visits for all prisoners.

It makes me very sad when people seem to imagine that some weird metaphysical transformation takes place once a person has committed a crime and that somehow they stop being human.

Any criminal law system that is based on sadism and inflexibility rather than on humanity and trying to make things better is the total OPPOSITE of justice!

I'd give up eating all the foods I love, I'd give up the internet, I'd give up TV and books and all forms of entertainment for like, one conjugal visit every few months.

i wish conjugal visits were an option where i live but in wisconsin they arent allowed evn to those who are married. but i really like the idea of charging for visits. i would be more than willing to pay to hav one if it give me a chance to hav one on one time with my baby. regardless of if we are married or not.

I will agree, yes under the condition that the inmate is a model inmate, no fighting, keeping their cell nice and clean, not giving guards a hard time. pretty much the same things that a parole board will look at....not just allow it because a "board of advisors" make it a right, it should be a priveledge that the inmate must earn. because trust me if they allowed them you can bet i'd be there in 5 minutes....lol

I think they should be earned. I believe there would be a lot less fighting and rapes in prison if this were allowed. What better insentive to stay out of trouble, get involved in rehab programs, than getting a little? I like the idea of paying for the privledge also~

I think conjugal visits should be offered to engaged and married couples. It should be on a good behavior basis b/c if it were everyone in there would be good as gold so they could be intimate wid their significant other. It shouldnt matter if they were married or engaged b4 they got locked up. Im not only saying that for myself since im MWI but b/c this would help keep the prisoners from acting out or causing problems...in return their conjugal visits would be taken away.
