Awwww sweetie everything will be ok and you will get to see your man. I wish I could be there on Saturday to see mine too. But I am soo happy that you got approved, and then when you see him and hear his voice you will know everything is ok.

Well I did send mine in towards the end of November but when I called this week they said that it had been received and it was pending. So I will call again tomorrow and ask, hopefully it will be approved. Cause I am getting ANXIOUS- as I'm sure we all are. lol The funny thing is when I sent it back in he had not signed the back so I wonder if when they got his mail they gave it to him and let him sign it? I know he sent me new ones but i never sent them in. O wel at least they got them. Thank the lord.

I know exactly how you feel.....that is how I felt all week before I went to go and see him. My stomach was in knots. I didn't know what to expect... how was I going to feel.... was it going to be akward. I wanted a divorce when he first went in.....found out about all his skeltons in his closet. BUt once I saw him I knew eerything was going to be OK, and we are more in love now and bonded so much closer than ever!! Have a safe trip and let us know how it went!!

Ok congrats on getting approved but you need to know alot of things. I also got approved when my husband was in reception and went to visit but i didn't know all the rules. So to start with stay away from red/blue/green/beige/orange. Try to wear clothes with no metal including the buttons on your pants. Also go buy a sports bra the metal on your bra will set the metal detector off. Dont wear your clothes too tight or revealing.
Call the visiting number before you leave just to make sure there are no lockdowns. i am not positive but i think the visit is one hour behind glass. You do not need an appointment though.
Good luck and have a great visit.

Your welcome. Remember to have your ID too. You can't take anything in with you. YOu should leave everything in the car. When you get there they will give you a slip (make sure to bring his CDC#) fill out the form and turn it in. Once they have reviewed it they will call you up. You will have to take off your shoes and go through the metal detector. If you pass then you put on your shoes get your slip and go through the gates to the next building where you will hand the slip to the CO at the desk. Your almost there....and then enjoy ok. Let us know how it goes.

Default Just Approved Too!

Congratulations daddislilgirl!!! It is so exciting I just got the paper they gave my man were it says I was approved. I am so happy and at the same time sad. My car is being a biatch right now and not running right so I can't go see him yet. Please let me know how it goes and what all you have to do. It has been 3 months going to be so weird seeing him again but I still can't wait.

Shoes must have a strap. No flip flops. If they have a back on the heel portion that is a big plus. Some places do not allow sandles. Also I usually take an extra set of clothes and pair of shoes in case they do not like what I have on and need to change. Black, pink, lavender, lime green are all safe colors to wear. Enjoy. My son didn't know I was approved and the big smile on his face when he saw me was worth every minute of the hour wait. the windows there are much larger than the ones they had in LA county.

Yeah I thought I was going to surprise my husband too. Then today I got the orange paper in the mail that he sent me.So he knows I am approve...He said that he didn't want me to have to drive all the way up there..So he would just wait till he gets mainlined so we can have contact visits, which will be anytime now...So he will be a lil surprised since he doesn't know I am coming...I am so excited! : )

Every facility is different. At my husbands place CMC I could wear flip flops. But I would bring a back up in everything or yu have to go to friends outside and get who knows what.

The hotline said no blue denim or anything that resembles blue denim. So I think that other jeans would be fine just not blue ones.

No jeans at all. Some people get in with black jeans however i have seen them get picky about whether they are actually dark blue or black.
Avoid the following colors
red/blue
khaki/green
orange

The shoes depends on the prison but like other say take back up.

Definatly no blue (inmates in mainline wear blue) orange (thats what reception inmates wear) green (CO's wear it)

I have worn, black, grey, white, red, brown, khaki, purple and i have been good to go.

I try not to wear thight cloths because depending on who is in the front they will sent you back.

Even the same female CO that is in the front can let you in saturday and sunday she will tell you to go change. So basically for a lot os us is not the rules that are the problem but the inconsistency

Unhappy How long until he sent you your visiting form?

Hello ladies,

This is my first time having a loved one incarcerated.

I am so greatful for all of you, I've been reading the posts lately. My hunny just got to NKSP about 3 weeks ago, he was at county before that and we think he'll serve a year if he serves half.

He's in reception. It takes him 3 days for me to get a letter from him and about 1-2 weeks for him to get a letter from me.

I've received a few letters from him...but no visiting form...How long did it take your man to send you a visiting form? Does he need to buy it...who does he request it from? Please help...he was in C now he's in gym A...

I really miss him and want to go see him and from what I read it will take forever to get approved so I'd like to at least get the form and send it in.

Thanks for the help, you guys rock!

aww girly welcome to this program, and trust me its so much help. the girls here are the best!=] its actually my first time with somebody incarcerated as well, and ive learn so much in this website...well ok as for me my bf send me the visiting application in the first letter he sent me. im sure its free and i believe he can just get them. you shold mention to him to send you one and tell him to make sure he signs it in the back, if not its pointless for him to send it cuz it wont go through. he needs to sign it in the back. just be patient and make sure you tell him to send it to you. if you have any other questions feel free to ask and will help you the best way we can.

My husband sent mine in the first letter to me too. Just ask him to send you more than one like 5 or so. So you can have them for whoever too. Or just in case you don't get approved at reception you can once he mainlines and send it in. I never got approved in NKSP but I did once he mainlined in a week!!

Smile Hang in there

This is also my first time. My man was arrested 4/25/07, spent until 12/15/07 in OC Jail. Spent about 3 mos in Wasco reception, and know is at CSVP. He sent me a visiting form right away when he was in reception. I did not go visit until he got to CVSP. I didn't want to drive 3-4 hrs to visit behind glass. We did the whole thing in county for too long. PTO has been great for me not knowing anything about the system and how things work. This site has helped me my 1st visit, what to expect, dress code, the whole deal. I has great info, and great people. Hang on Girl, he will send you a form. Reception is very hard for them. Write as much as you can. I hope he stay is short. Good luck...

We actually filled ours out before he was even transf'd to prison and I sent it the day they picked him up. I cant remember where but there is a thread on here that has the form you can print out..maybe someone will come along and know where it is located?
Hang in there girlie! I'm sure if he had access to one he would have sent it to you
