omg!! Congrats girl!!! You must be excitied!!! Just remember to breath b/4 u get in the car, lol. Yes, u can wear sandels. You can also wear shorts but they cant be 2 inches above ur knee. So just make sure they are right on ur knee to be on the safe side. I went on Saturday and yea, it was pretty warm out there. I am not 100% sure if the back of the sandels need to be covered, but to be on the safe side just take extra clothes and shoes just in case.

I am not sure about reception visiting. I visit the mainline yard. I know some of the girls on here visit reception and I am sure they will come on and answer that question for you. I do know that it is 1 hr behind glass. Yea, I would go first thing in the morning since traffic sometimes is unexpected.

AGAIN CONGRATS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS!! girlie.. Aww i remember when i heard those words they just make all the negative feelings go away lol... Well ive been visiting my husband in Reception every weekend since March 7,09 now ive seen a couple of ladies with open toe heels and no strap in the back.. Havent seen any one with flip flops i did hear a girl ask one of the C.O. in visiting if they where allowed and she was told yes! Ive noticed more ladies wearing caprice and skirts but below the knee. But just like Lizzie said Take EXTRA clothes & shoes.. This is just my experiance with Visiting but in the time ive been going they have made me change twice and i find it funny to see some ladies visiting there loved one wearing something similar to what i had to change for.. But that's just me.. So dont get to confortable if one day they ok. you and the next they dont. Call this number 800-374-8474. Press 1 then 3 then 3 again and it will inform you on lockdown updates and Visiting Info. I always get there around 11:30-12pm but then again i only live 1hr away so its best to leave early to be there by 8:30 when visiting starts or arrive the night before. They do change shifts at 2pm and does take a lil longer for them to come out! Well I hope i was of some help lol well once again Congrats girl and Good Luck and have a Great Visit

No, you don't need an appt! I just visited my brother for the first time and it actually was a great experience! I wore flip flops and they totally let me. But I did have an underwire bra and I had to change that. I got to see my bro (behind glass) for about an hour. Very long drive from Riverside--bring a cooler with water and snacks for the car ride!

it takes about a month for them to actually process the form, sometimes longer...your man has to let you know if you've been approved or not, so in a letter to him you should remind him to let you know. i believe you can also call the prison to check on the status, but trust me a week isn't enough time for them to process it...they lag a bit. i sent mine about a week and a half ago so i'm in the same boat as you...it sucks but hey, that's life right.
good luck on your approval!
also...if you think he might be getting moved, i read in another post that it might be a good idea to get a second visiting form all filled out and ready to send to whatever prison he may or may not get moved to, just to be ahead of the game. seems like a pretty good idea. just a thought [=

Just as the other girls mentioned, NK takes a WHILE to process the visiting forms. I would wait about a month b/4 u can request status. I waited about that time b/4 I started to call and I was pending for like a month b/4 I got approved.

I know it sucks, but honestly that is how long NK takes w/there forms. You are better off just waiting until he mainlines b/4 u can send in the second form to the prison where he will mainline.

Good luck girlie, hope this helped.

I never got approved when my husband was at reception here at NK, and he was there for 3 months. But once he moved I sent it in over to his mainline prison and got approved in a week.

You are posting in the CALIFORNIA forum. You need the Illinois Forum. I already gave you two links in a previous message you accidentally left in California. Again, here is the Illinois link in PTO: ILLINOIS You will find the East Moline CC there. Take care.

Good Luck!

Talking Visiting Application Questions!

Thought I would let everyone know that I already heard from Scott. He left county exactly a week ago today (Thursday)....I guess he went straight to the hole when he got there because they said when he was released last time that they released him from the hole....He kept telling them that he wasn't but they didn't believe anything he said....Finally they looked into it and WOW turns out he knows what he is talking about....So he's out of the hole.

I got two letters from him....In one of them he asked me if I could send him some magazines from Amazon because (as everyone knows) there isn't anything to do in reception but stare at the wall. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what magazines I should send him?? Or any good books?? I know when he was at West Valley he was reading books. Of course he didn't tell me what kind of anything....So any ideas would be great.

In the other letter he sent me the visiting application...I have a couple questions on that.

One: I am currently fighting a traffic ticket....I went to court on it Tuesday of this week and they scheduled me for the hearing (or whatever) in June and I have to pay the ticket off by the middle of next month (May). Do I put that on the application?? Can I still be approved??

Two: In 2003 I had a petty theft case...Which I plead No Contest (online it says Not Guilty) and I had it expunged, so it shows the status as Dismissed in 2006. Do I put this on the application?? Can I still be approved??

Three: Where it asks about visiting another inmate in the state of California....I have.....But I don't remember his CDC number?? And I am not 100% sure of what his charges were or the date. It was probably around 2003...I think?? Do I need to get ahold of this guy and get all that information from him??

Four: It asks if I have ever been incarcerated in a state correctional facility.....When I had the above mentioned petty theft case I had to do a book and release and house arrest for, like, 16 days...Do I mention that anywhere??

Okay.....I think that is all....For now anyway!! lol I was sooo excited to get, not one but, two letters from him yesterday. I thought I wasn't going to hear from him for a while because a bunch of people have been telling me that. Oh....Apparently he had restitution, which he wasn't aware of, and just about all the money he had on his books from county went to that....So lame!! Okay....Sorry for the FOREVER long thread....I'm just super excited right now!! lol Small things amuse small minds!!

What are your thoughts on my DISMISSED misdemeanor petty theft charge?? Is the book and release, which was required by my probation, considered to be incarcerated at a state facility?? I just sat in a holding cell for, like, 6-8 hours.

Thank you for your help!! Play dumb?? What?? I don't get it?? lol

Well first of all, YAY!! You finally recieved ur first ltr and yay!! So excitied for you girl, lol. It sucks that he went straight into the hole, but at least he is out and back to the normal yards, which in reception I dont think it makes a difference, lol.

Ok so let me respond in order, so bare w/me since I am new to this whole prison stuff, I may not have the answers to all ur questions, but I can surely suggest something, lol. I am not sure w/kind of books or magazines ur hunny likes or would like...but maybe sports illustrated for magazine...anything sports or time something like that. For books, Stephen King has some good books. Dan Brown also makes really good ones like De Vinci Code; Deception Point; Angels & Demons; Digital Fortress.

As far as ur traffic ticket, I would include everything and anything. I am not sure if there is a way to attach an Addendum in case u dont have that much space. The idea is to include everything so that you dont get denied b/c u didnt include X, u know? You can still be approved for visiting if u have a dismissed case, BUT u should include EVERYTHING even if it was dismissed.

As for the CDCR inmate that u visitied, is there a way u can get his CDC#? Are they asking for his CDCR? Sorry I dont remember how the form looks, lol. I would include his full name and maybe call NK visiting to inquiry about w/to do w/his CDC# (It may not be necessary).

I am glad that ur excitied girl, things will get better and hopefully u will get approved while he is in reception.

Good luck girl!! I hope I was able to answer ur questions or at least given u some ideas.

I was wondering if you have to get a visiting form for Delano, then one for each prison he may be transferred to in the future?

If your guy is in reception at North Kern even if u dont know if he will mainline there (stay there), you can sumbit a visiting form to North Kern.

Usually North Kern can take anywhere from 2-3 months to approve u while other prisons may take less, which is why some posts on here say to just sumbit a new form once he mainlines b/c its way faster.

But no, you do not need to sumbit a new form to each NEW facility ur inmate will get transferred. The same form, once approved is good for like 2 yrs (I think). BUT also, some prisons may be different and may want u to re-sumbit the form once ur approved so u have to chk w/each individual prison.

I hope this helps...feel free to ask any more questions!!

inmates can't get magazines while in reception ]= but like lizzie said, dan brown's books are awesome. james rollins is also a good author. i usually send mystery/thriller books because i think most people like them.

i even had a juvenile case that was thrown out, and i included it on my application. just include everything....err on the side of caution, because they can not approve you if you don't include everything.

He has to sign it first - when you send it back it gets taken out of your letter to him and sent right to the visiting staff. He never see's the form again! And if it isn't signed by him when you send it back, it will be refused and you'll have to start over again...

As Kima stated, ur hunny will need to Re-Send you the visiting form and he needs to SIGN the form. Otherwise, they wont process ur form.

I would have him send u a few signed forms so that u have them ready in case he mainlines and u dont get approved at NK. North kern takes a while processing visiting forms.

Hope this helped.

Default Just received visiting application

I received a letter from my husband today, well, technically yesterday with the visiting application inside. I'm 41 with a totally clean record with exception to some tickets here and there in the car. Currently nothing is on DMV. When I was sixteen, I did a couple stupid things and was put on probation. My concern is do I need to list that information? It happened so long ago, and I took necessary steps to seal that information. Also, is there any other tips that anyone can give me before I make any mistakes on the form? Do I need to enclose a copy of my drivers license, etc..? And, last thing, do I complete one for each prison he goes to? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

And, last thing, do I complete one for each prison he goes to? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Hi girl!!

Ok, well for ur traffic tickets. If they have been taken care off then you dont have to list it. If u do have a traffic ticket that is still pending, I would list it.

As for ur other stuff, w/the visiting form u need to include everything. It is better to be safe then sorry. So, yea, I would list ur juvenile case even if was sealed.

As for tips, that would be to fill out everything; if says "optional" u dont have to put it. But be as precise and detailed as possible w/the other stuff. You dont want to miss anything. . Another tip would be to have ur hunny send u another signed form. The reason being is that most likely he will not mainlined at North Kern, therefore, if ur not approved by the time he mainlines u will want to re-send the form to where he mainlines. North kern takes about three months to approve visiting forms. . You do not have to send a copy of ur drivers licence or any other information or forms.

Some prisons varrie as far as the visiting goes, so my understanding is that u do not need to fill out the visiting form again after he transfers, that is if u have already been approved. BUT some prisons are different and may require u to re-do the form. It just varies. Also, keep in mind that this form is only good for two yrs and in two yrs u will need to re-do it.

I hope this info helped out. If u have any more questions dont hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!!

Dang, that was so long ago, I don't remember the date, only the two possible years, and only one of the charges. I know their were two. In fact, I did probation, community service, and they dropped it all. I was young and stupid. Do you really think I need to do research on this in order to not be denied? I don't even know where to start, maybe probation office in my county? I never thought I would have to go back so far. Is there anybody I can call at the prison to ask questions about this? Does anyone know?
