I know that every time I want to look up my "young and dumb mistake" I go to Riverside Superior Courts (I search that and click on the first link) and there is a "Record Search" and I just follow that until I enter my name and it comes up with everything (for Riverside county) that is on my record and far back too. So I guess try searching the county that you were charged in....It should show you EVERYTHING.....Offense, Plea, Status, ALL the minutes from everything....Payments you made....I mean everything you should need. When I sent my application in I included a print out of my "Charges" page in that "Record Search" that show I put in a plea of "Not Guilty" and it was "Dismissed"......Gotta love being able to get things expunged.....lol

I'm not sure I made much sense here......Seems to be happening more times than not lately.....I hope you get something out of this response.....

You do not need to list traffic tickets unless it was considered a misdemeanor offense. The only thing they look for in regards to traffic tickets are failure to appears or failures to pay. I'm pretty sure your juvenile record since sealed will not be an issue when applying. Just an FYI...NKSP is famous for taking forever in obtaining approval so be patient and follow up frequently. Good luck sweetie! =)

Just in case...you can always call visiting and ask them what should be included and they will let you know!!

Cause let me tell you....I'll start calling them eff'ers every damn day!! lol I wasn't even aware that there was a way to follow up on my application......I thought I had to sit and wait for him to let me know if I've been approved or not and mail is SOOO slow.....I got a letter yesterday that he wrote on the 9th....Which isn't too bad....But I've been writing him EVERY DAY sometimes I would send something out to him 2 or 3 times in a day and he said in his letter yesterday that he had only received like 2 or 3 letters from me since he's been there.........WTF?? (K....Vent session is over hehe)

Call North Kern State Prison, Visiting Dept at 661-721-2345. Have the operator transfer u to visiting.

I am sure they will be able to help u out. Let them know u sealed ur record and that they were juvenile cases.

Good Luck!!

LOL!! They won't tell you over the phone if you've been approved unless by some chance you catch someone on a good day. You can call and ask if your application has been received. That way you have a time frame for approval. It should take 4-6 weeks. Now I say it should but you can't always count on that. When we were at NKSP I sent in 3 forms before they finally started processing my application. After the 30 day mark I called twice a week to check status of my application. I was already visiting for 2 weeks before they informed my husband I was approved.

Reception mail sucks sweetie...almost as bad as county. They move around a lot too so sometimes that can slow it down even more. Just be patient and keep writing. Take care!

You can "follow-up" w/ur visiting app at least every wk. I actually didnt start bugging them until a month after since getting approved at North Kern takes FOREVER!! Well, once the month came up, I called at least once a wk after that until I finally got approved..

Just as an FYI, when I was pending a CO did tell me that they only approve visiting applications once a wk...on thurs! . That would explain why it takes a while b/4 u get approved there and why so many never do get approved. .

Default Moving around

Boy, you aren't kidding. The first problem I had was they only gave me the partial address when I called the records dept. I don't know if he has gotten any mail from that address. Then I was sending all mail to the correct address, which he still hadn't received as of his letter I got yesterday. The letter yesterday said he had moved to a better yard, but now an upper bunk. So, let's see, I have sent books, letters, stationary package all to places that he is no longer at, and he hasn't gotten anything. I hope they catch up to him. He did say he can't stand not knowing anything. He asked me to write everyday. I really don't want to get into that habit cause if I don't write him for a day or two due to my own issues here at home ( I do have a life of my own you know), he'll be all butt hurt about it. I don't want his hopes to be broken if he heaven forbid doesn't get a letter exactly on the day he expects one. I love him, but lately I can't stop thinking about the affair he was having before he went in, and his sudden change of heart now that he's in jail. I wish there was a way to really know that we're not just getting used for money, packages, letters, books, I can go on and on........... I guess four plus years will be a good test. Shit, I keep forgetting we have so long. I have so many expectations of him so soon. See, I guess I'm not really dealing with this too well. It's so hard to forgive. I thought I could, I guess it really is too fresh. I just don't want to get hurt again, and I don't want to be used for stamps and crap to write her. Does that sound paranoid and ridiculous?

NOT at all......Actually.....You took the words right out of my mouth....I was even thinking about sending him paper and envelopes and writing his CDC# in one upper corner and the put page numbers on each of the sheets of paper I send......You want to write her.....Tell her to send you paper n shit.....Talk about paranoid and ridiculous.....lol

Where is he at now?? Elmo is B - 3 - A....Whatever that means....lol

Default Good idea!

He's now FA5 or something to that effect. I've asked him what all that stuff means in my letters, but he hasn't gotten any so.....I haven't gotten any answers. Plus, I had given him an ultamatum about little miss "affair", and basically said he needed to make a choice. I told him I would write him until I received his answer by either letters stopping or if he decides he wants his marriage to work, the letters will continue to flow my way. So far they are flowing my way, but...he hasn't gotten my not so lovey dovey letters yet either. My feelings on the deal is that through letters, you can say so much, get so much out that you haven't been able to say in person, through letters, people can fall in love with each other all over again. They are so important. They tell so much, and so many feelings are put into them. No way will I accept him and "affair" writing to each other. That's a deal breaker! The page number thing is a good idea. I think I might get a stamp made that says "from me, for me" and put in on the corner of each piece. I would use my name of course. Or maybe something like "paper and stamps sent with love from your wife"

so i sent in my application about a month ago, and i'm gonna call and see if they have gotten it yet tomorrow....i was just wondering if anyone has an arrest record (i was arrested as a minor...all charges were dropped, and i was arrested once as an adult, and the charge was dismissed) but no convictions, and wrote it all down on their application, and got approved. i did write all my information down on my application, i'm just wondering how much an arrest record is going to affect me.

thanks girls

Default Yard

I just found out he's on yard A5, he had been giving me wrong PO box, he moves every day. All my mail is not getting to him. He thinks I have foresaken him. LOL. When actually, everything has to be sent back and re-checked and re-routed over and over again. I guess that's the norm. He was telling me in the letter I got today that everyone else is getting letters in three days. I find that hard to believe. Yeah sure, I get his letters within three days, because I stay put. Every time I write him, he has moved in between that time. At the end of the letter, he said that he knows that I had to have sent him something by now. I guess he's trying to convince himself. No s$%t, I have sent him money, stationary package, letters up the a, books from Borders. He better get something soon. He even said he sent me his gold chain to the house. I haven't gotten that. Even though it was a religious item, they wouldn't let him keep it. I hope that no one there got their hands on it. It was my first anniversary gift to him, and is worth alot, and I mean alot of money. I don't know what date he mailed it. He just asked if I got it yet.

As far as I know...(Don't hold me to this)...When you mail in your application they take it when they read your letter and send it to wherever it goes to get approved.....I've been told that it can take up to 2 months to be approved at NKSP and they will let your man know and then he is responsible for letting you know. I don't know the number (I need to call and check on my app as well) to NKSP but I think you call them and go to "Records" and ask if they've (at least) received it okay.

Sorry I'm not much help....I hope one of the AMAZING ladies here at NKSP comes along soon and answers your question!!

Good luck!!

Hi girl and welcome to PTO!!

When u mail him the visiting app, they dont let him know that u mailed it. When I sent mine in, I included it in a ltr to my hunny, but in the ltr I stated that the visiting app was included w/the ltr. So when he wrote me back he said that the visiting form must have been fwd to the visitng dept since it wasnt w/the ltr.

I would call North Kern, Visiting Dept to chk on status of the visiting form. It takes about 2-3 months to get approved soooo I would assume that u are pending. I would call from now on at least once a wk. . Here is the number: 661-721-2345 and request the visiting Dept.

Family visits are allowed at North Kern, but ONLY for MAINLINED inmates. So u wont be able to have them until he mainlines. But he needs to request the Family Visit package/application from his counselor to see if qualifies for FV and so that he can mail u the form. (I believe its the same process as the regular visiting application).

WEll if u have any more questions dont hesitate to ask. I hope I was able to answer ur questions. good luck!!

I sure hope not, that would really suck. I definitely would list it, and don't drive in there yourself that's for sure. Make sure you have a valid California ID. I would call the prison and ask for visiting staff, they can let you know if that would be a problem. Good luck

For Anthonyandjene:
My understanding w/the visiting form is that yes u have to include everything. And I also "thought" that u had to have a VALID form of ID. AS Randy's Wife suggested, I would definetly call North Kern to see if there would be a problem.

But do make sure that u list everything on the form. Over the wkend I heard that a lady was not approved b/c of failure to list...not sure w/it was, but I would suggest not to keep anything from them. Good Luck girl!

Okay, so I got mine ready to go, already in the envelope with our marriage certificate, I'm going to call tomorrow a.m., just to make sure I've dotted all my i's and crossed my t's. My husband wants our marriage cert. in his file for future reasons. Who knows? Yeah, I'm gonna call tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Yea! U pretty much have everything covered girl. Another suggestion would be to follow up w/the visiting dept like two wks out, just to see if they have recieved ur visiting app. When I called after I had mailed out my form, I asked for the date they recieved it. That date helps that way when u chk status on ur form u can trace back to see how long it has been.

I hope I am making sense. But good luck girl!!

I called visiting, they did say to go ahead and list approximate year when I was arrested as a juvenile, and what the offense was, along with disposition. I don't have any of that info, my mom wouldn't either. I gave approximate year, age, one of the two offenses(the second I couldn't remember), told them there was one other not remembered, and told them they were dismissed after house arrest and community service. The CO who took my call said even though it was so long ago, it would probably still show up on FBI, and some other check they do, so best to list then list nothing and it look like you are hiding something. He said it was so long ago, probably no problem but none the less put it all down.

I don't know the number (I need to call and check on my app as well) to NKSP but I think you call them and go to "Records" and ask if they've (at least) received it okay.

Sorry I'm not much help....I hope one of the AMAZING ladies here at NKSP comes along soon and answers your question!!

Good luck!!

Does the number of pages per letter that we send in for example, 20 pages..LOL determine how long it's gonna take to get to him. I tend to write long letters. Is that why he's not getting them? Is it because they don't feel like reading letters that long, and do they read them all word for word??
