I believe there is a 10 page per envelope limit....But I could be wrong. I'm a writer too!! I send about 8-10 pages front and back at least once a week and the other days it's NEVER less than 4 pages front and back. I think they read them pretty close....But, again, I'm not sure. I wouldn't doubt that they are lazy (duh, right??) and scan over them just trying to get through the long ones. Elmo's mom and I think since we both write such forever long letters that they take ours and throw them in a pile because they don't want to read from us anymore....lol

I am not sure about the exact page limit. But like Elmo said I do believe its 10 pgs per ltr.

But u would think that they would return ur ltrs, and they havent right? Like u said it may take them a lil extra time to read through them especially if they are hand written. I dont know if they read them word per word, but I think the do look for certain things in ltrs.

Good Luck girlie! I would call the mail room to see whats up.

Okay, so I write ten pages front and back, making twenty. That's what I do all the time, use front and back. The most I've written is ten pages front and back. I guess he's gotten them. You must be right. But, at least I know not to send more than ten actual pieces of paper. You know what's funny, I thought the same thing, that mine are so long that they toss them in a pile for later reading. Oh well, that's what they get paid for, right?

I sent mine in about a month ago, I guess it's time for me to start calling and asking about the status, I know the form was received, he got the letter and the marriage certificate that I thought they would keep, but gave it to him instead of putting it in his file. I pray every day that I get to see my baby. I miss him so much.

I hope to help you with a few details about visiting at NKSP. It took almost 3 months for my application to be approved. After 1 1/2 months, i called and called and they said it was "pending." Finally, I got the approval notice from my brother in one of his letters. Yes, they do read the letters word for word. He told me one of his cellies did not get a specific letter from his girlfriend because it was full of sexual scenes, etc. Also, they are VERY strict about clothing. They made my 70-yr-old mother change because her baggy shorts were too short!!! And my friend had to change her clothes because her skirt was "too fitted" even though all the way down to her knees. So--no jeans, no blue, no tank tops, no shorts unless down to knees, no plastic flip flops (can't look like shower shoes), no underwire in bra (get a sports bra). Hope this helps!

Default approvals for reception

So I sent my approval form in last monday. I'm kinda nervous cause one my guy forgot to sign it, two I didn't remember the cdc number of an inmate I visited in shafter like a year ago....so I left that part blank and three he filed a 1381 to be transfered. Will I be able to get approved and see him before he moves again? And will I not be approved cause I didn't put that cdc number from the previous person I visited?

No, you will not be denied because you did not put the other cdc #, but it will not be approved because he did not sign iut.

It will not be approved first because he did not sign it. Please send him a post card and have him send you 2 more forms and remember to sign the back of the forms. You can use the waiting time to find the number of the other person. One way to find the number is to go on to Jpay and put his name in (where you send money) and it will give you his number. I am assuming he is still on parole so his number will still be in the system. Also if you are not approved before he leaves you have to start the process all over again, that is why I would ask for 2 forms. Good luck.

Hi, I got my visiting form with my 1st letter. So they should be pretty accessible but maybe you should send him a post card to remind him about it or maybe for some reason it got taken out of the letter he sent. My post cards get there in about 2 days.

Hi girlie!! And welcome to PTO!!!. I have heard of situations where the guys cant get to the visitng forms. Like Sinnersclown mentioned, send ur hunny a postcard and remind him, BUT make sure u tell him to sign the back of the form and send u a few of them.

North Kern takes FOREVER in approving the apps, just have him send u a few forms just in case u never get approved at NK u can try re-sumbitting the form once he mainlines. Good luck and again WELCOME!!!

Default Newbie with visiting questions

Ok so I'm new to this whole thing, my husband just transfered into Delano on July 6th... I'm waiting for him to send me the packet so I can get qualified for visitations... Does anyone have any advise as to what happens, like when I will get the packet, (does it depend on my husband) or can I pick up the packet?? When it comes to visiting how long are the visits and is it behind glass, also where do they go after delano???

Thanks

Hi, The visiting application is just a two page form with basic information that he has to send to you and he has to sign the form before he sends it to you. Since you said he just got there I'm assuming he's in reception and the visits would be 1 hour behind glass. Non- Contact. It takes a really long time to get approved so send in your application as soon as you get it. Good Luck!

I sent in visiting form 7 weeks ago and today I called visiting and the lady told me she can NOT tell me whether or not my application has been recieved...I know on previous posts others have said that they have called and the lady lets them know if it's still pending or if they lost it (ooppps I mean they never recieved it =)...) So am supposed to call another department or am I supposed to speak with a specific person?? Any advice would be appreaciated!

EricPrincess-

Well they used to let you know that info when you called....but they changed there policy on that.... know they not "allowed" to give that info you have to wait until the inmate lets you know..... but Call and try to kiss ass a little and if that doesnt work dial ext. 7030 that the sarg. its either Franco or Fisher that answer the phone. Just tell them that its been almost two months since you sent out the form and you want to know if they've received. If you catch them on a good day they will give the info. Gook luck....I'm still waiting to get approved.

It took them about six weeks for them to approve me. Now that they are off work the first three Friday's of the month, mail, applications, most other services are going to take alot longer. I never called them, and it took only six weeks. I work for the government myself, and I know that if you call too much, your things may just go to the bottom of the pile. Sad, but true. Not only that, but they didn't inform me, they inform the inmate with a yellow approval letter. My husband was so excited that he mailed me the actual approval letter.

Thanks for the info! I will definetely try to call the sarg. and see if I can get any info. Hopefully I will get approved within the next few weeks! I wasn't planning on visiting my husband in reception but since he is a lifer he has mentioned several times there is a big possibility of him staying there longer than "normal". He has not yet seen his counselor and he has been there since 5/21. So that may be an indication that they are in no rush to get him setteled!
