You might want to get your boyfriend to sent you another form. And fill it out again.
I think mail is still slow because my husband told me he hasn't received any mail yet. So youre mail is there it's just sitting in some pile on someones desk.
But mail will get there sooner or later.

Since I had to ask for permission directly from the Warden, when I sent in my visitor app - I sent it certified mail, I got notification that it had been recieved in less than a week. I thought that was a pretty good turn around. Not that I wasn't actually terrified to bring attention to my visitors app but hey I wanted to make sure they had all the ammo they could possibly need before they shoot me down with a "Oh we never received it".

Now the wait is for actual approval, not just "Did you receive the dang thing yet". Keep the prayers going for me. jc forever - I've got my fingers crossed for you and the prayers going up.

Question Visiting Approvals

I Was Wondering If There Was A # I Can Call To See If I Am Approved For Visits. On The Form For Visiting Did I Have To Put Down My Son & Daughters Social Security # For Them To Get Approved Because I Didnt Think I Had To.

Once they get transferred to mainline we don't have to fill out another visiting application right? I thought I read it somewhere that it is good for a year or something?

If he is going to do his mainline time there @ NKSP you do not have to fill out another application.

I read somewhere on a thread that when they get transfered to another prison you have to go through the whole process again.

That sucks if you do have to go through the process all over again. It should be universal for that state that he is in.

No, if you get approved prior to him transferring to another prison for mainline, then the approval 'follows the inmate' and you do not need to re-apply at the new prison.

If you aren't approved prior to his transferring, then you DO have to re-apply at the new prison. Generally speaking, however, mainline prisons are relatively quick with approvals if there are no 'issues' in your past.

Your approval is good for 24 months and aliferz of course is correct as always.

Thanks! That is what I thought. I still have not been able to get through to visitng to see if I was approved or not because if you remember a few posts back my husband did not sign the back. I am still trying to see if he needs to send another or they will just let him sign it. I sent him a post card when you guys said it will get to him quicker but I still haven't had any luck. Although he is still at NKSP for reception I hope I do get approved before he gets mainlined. I want to see him!!

Why only 24 months and the duration of the sentence?

I'm not sure sweetie but I my guess would be so thay can recheck for any arrests, tickets, felonies, etc that might come up during the during the duration of their sentence. It's not that big of deal you just complete an update.

It's always been 24 months, but I looked just recently and the Title 15 no longer states the 24 months. It only states that you need to renew if your address changes or if legal issues arise.

I know that SOME prisons haven't been asking for updates in the 24 months. I still send a renewal every other January JUST TO BE SAFE. I don't trust CDCr, so I just do it.

So, bottom line - it's best to check with your particular visiting department. Obviously you don't need to renew while an inmate is in reception, but once he gets settled at his new mainline prison - and if he is going to be doing a term longer than 2 years, it might be a good idea to just check with that prison to be safe.

Records said they have not received my application that I mailed over a month ago. Is there a link of the application to reprint it and send it in. BUt that may do no good to get another if he has to sign it first. Can I get another copy and just send it back to him and he sign the back to give to visiting?

No sweetie..unfortunately he will have to send you another one. It's a good idea to have him send you extras.

I sent in 3 applications and within one month then 40 days later I was finally approved. NKSP is notorious for "not receiving" applications. Who knows...good luck babe!!

Exactly! Since you will have to ask him for another SIGNED application - tell him to send you like 4 of them and then send one in each week. Send them to the Visiting Department at the main address and not in with a letter to him. Good luck - sorry it's such a hassle.
