Default Help Please, EF number???

Okay to start off, I greatly appreciate all the support and information that everyone is putting forth in this forum. You guys are awesome!!

Okay, My husband is senteced 30months with eligibility for parole. I was told that his lawyer would send a letter to the Department of Corrections in 45days and request that my husband be placed in Boot Camp so he can be guaranteed to come home in 140 days.

I called the lawyer yesterday and was told that until my husband receives an EF number, he cannot request anything yet.

But i just called the County jail and was told that an imate cannot receive an EF number until he is in Prison. She stated that every ID number is unique to it's own jail. "We do not share ID numbers".

Can anyone please let me know how I would know if my husband already have an EF number or not and how long would it take for an inmate to receive his EF#, because I tried searching for my husband on the DOC website, and could not find him.

How will the lawyer be able to request anything if he keeps waiting for the EF number that he won't receive until my husband is in Prison?

Thank you so much for you help. It's a good feeling to know that there are people out there that truely understands how I am feeling and what I am going through. Everyone, Please take care. And I hope your love ones will come home to you VERY soon.

Hi AnnWithNoMan,
Welcome to PTO! Hope all is well.
Is your Man in county, if he is in county it is my experience that he will not receive an Ef number until he is state side, inside of state prison.
My son did not get an ef number until he was in state prison 8 months. Call the parole board, all of us have different experiences with the doc and the State board of Pardons and Parole.
Good luck, and try not to worry, Ga is not efficient, as a matter of fact they are very, very very slow sometimes.
Good Luck
Vangee

It worked that way with my hubby too Klyn... and hubby was in jail a while too before going to prison..
I always thought the ef number is the case number as well- it is with hubby, and will stay the same. He got a gdc number when he went to prison.

The state of GA? DOC of GA? Never..unless all the hires of the DOC are on the same page.. I do not see it happening, do you ?

Hey Ann- the ladies are correct for the most part. Your husband will get an EF# probably while he's still in county- and that's what the GDC used to use for each offender's information. Now they use the GDC numbers. Most guys will still have an EF# as well, but it's kindda like a phased out thing.

First of all, you need to be careful and probably get a second opinion on the information your attorney is throwing your way. Nobody is guaranteed boot camp, or gettin home in 140 days, or whatever he's telling you. Your guy is sentenced to 30 months?? You can count on him doing at least 1/3rd of that. That's 10 months by my math, and so that's far above your 140 day number. Depending on his charges, you may actually have to do the whole 30 months. Don't hold the GDC to anything because they're not the ones who determin how much time he'll do- thats' up to the Judge and the DA and the Parole Board...

Good luck with this- and welcome to PTO. If you have any other questions, there's always someone here to help.

Kristie

I remember hearing that when my friend was in county and I found it in the court records for our county website. It was right there and I don't see how they wouldnt already have that info. I did have to give it to my friend but I am not sure WHY because there are a lot of people who do not have any friends or family and what happens to them? Do they just sit there and wait?!

He has to go through Diagnostics start. There is where the "start of the system" begans.
