Hello,

My first love chance to add me to his phone list finally came and I am just wondering how long it takes for all that info to be processed.

I haven't spoken to him in 14 years and I am so happy to have found him.

Also another weird situation. I've called the prison for 3 days in a row and no one will answer the phone. This is at Holmes CI. Kind of freaky if you ask me.

Thanks for the help, I'm dying for this call.

after he has tried to call you,you will have to call If you do not have an GTL direct billed account, our customer service representatives are available to help our customers Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until midnight Eastern Time at 1-800-231-0193. Answers to many common questions are available through our automated customer service system. By simply entering your 10-digit telephone number, you will hear information relevant to your issue, and will be directed to the party best able to help you

Do I need to contact GTL even though I have a CBS account? As soon as I found him in August, I added a T-Mobile home phone line just for his calls.

I sent him my phone bill which states it's more than a cell phone but a land line also in case of any confusion on their part. He said he sent it in on the 25th and they (not knowing who they is) will get it on the first of October and it may take a few days to activate. I'm just impatient and on pins and needles.

Any answers to why Holmes C.I. isn't answering their direct line? It is the same number for the Chaplain too so you wouldn't think a government/state operation would go without telephone service. I don't know it is very odd to me.

Hi Angie...

well I dont have any experience with GTL since my husband is in the feds and we do not need to use them (hallelujah!!!)...but as far as the phone list approval...sometimes it takes 2 days and sometimes 2 weeks...its really crazy and it all depende on the actual people there...I am not sure if they have any "deadline" for this...personally I feel they are like "ok whatever another convict with some demands"

I know how you feel, it took me a month before I located my husband and another almost month before I got to talk to him...and I am in Europe and we havent seen each other for over a year now...crazy crazy situation...

but...just be patient, I am sure he will call...with the phone answering...well I call the facility at 3am, they usually answer at that time...I am dead serious...thats the only time I can get through...they usually cant give me any info though, because its just the clerk person...but at least I get some basic info about him

Thanks SS I got it figured out now. When I first found him in August, I had a land line reinstalled for his calls and called CBS thinking that he had 50 waiting on him when the time came.

I called my phone service to see if I had a block and they said no, well I called CBS this morning and they told me they never processed my credit card back in August. UGH! So, they tried accepting my payment and it wouldn't go through making me believe I had no money on my credit card. So I went the other route and did a quick western union and my CBS account is now active.

Mines is Federal too.

What a headache. LOL

If you are federal why doesnt he buy a phone card at the store would be alot cheaper

That is a good idea too Klyn. I should have went that route the whole time, but after all that I went through and my line is clear, I just have to play the waiting game.

I think I will have him get a card next time. Didn't know they sold them.

Oh definitely the cards are way better...I got magicjack and even though I am overseas my hubby ends up paying only around 18 bucks a month for the 300 minutes he gets...but I totally get you with all that mess you had to deal with...I would be happy to just finally get a call

Hey, that is a really really great price for calls, especially if you're oversees.

Uh oh, do we have the same Eric? Just kidding. I see that you have around the same waiting time. I have like a year in a half more I think. He gets out in 2014. What's sad it the ticker won't even go up that far in date.

Ok this is getting crazy. The prison hasn't answered the phone in over 2 weeks. I faxed his CO and and sent her a copy of the bill just in case Eric didn't write the number correctly to be sent in to be approved.

His has been writing letters saying he has been trying to call. I know everything on my end is clear with CBS and I've called CBS several times. I'm at my wits end waiting for this call for over 14 years now.

Someone give me some words of encouragement before I rip my hair out. LOL

If he is in Holmes CI in FL, he will not be able to buy minutes for phone calls. Holmes is a state prison, not Federal. Only Federal prisons in FL can buy minutes. I hope you have your phone situation worked out by now. If not, and you can get someone to answer the phone (850-547-2100), ask to speak with the person who handles the phones to see if your number has been approved. Good luck!

We have had a go around with the darn phone thing. I still haven't got to talk with him yet. Since the prison hasn't answered the phone in two weeks, I decided to both fax and email to the correct personnel. I was shocked that my e-mail and faxs were returned so quickly. The phone lady said he needed to readmit my phone number because I sent him a copy of my phone bill and not directly to the phone people. UGH!

Im still waiting on pins and needles. Nothing should be in the way now except the waiting game. Good Lord this takes forever. I know you ladies were happy when all this new setting up stuff came to an end.

Hey.. I am going through the same thing.. My first love is locked up at baker c.i .. and i just wrote him a letter, but we have not talked since DEC 2005.. and i gave him my new number, and address last time we talked we were talking about getting back together, he is locked up for a long, long time, but i still love him, and i know he loves me... I am waiting for him to add me.. god i hope it doesnt take weeks or months!

Ok ya'll listen to this....

I have T-Mobile and have a home line installed with it. I have sent a copy of my bill to Eric, his CO and his CO keeps promising she is taking care of it.

The end of Oct is coming and she said she would still continue to add my line even if it is past Oct.

Anyways, Eric got a denial saying the number listed was a cell phone, but on the bill it shows Home number I even highlighted it.

His CO says the phone lady only comes in 2 days a week. Eric got a denial stating it was a cell phone. UGH Someone help. Who else can I contact?

Ok, I just went to Vonage and signed up with them. I'm going to take a 200 loss on T-Mobile land line since it is like cancelling a a cell phone.

I hope this works, this is really driving me crazy.

I will receive my router in 4-5 business days and I had to use my checking account so they say that will take 5-7 business days.

I feel like Daffy Duck in the older cartoons when he jumps up and down hooo hoooo hoooo...LOL

So, now more waiting.

Now I understand the hell ya'll go through......

Good luck girl, i been fighten stuff to cuz they wanna call limit Time warner and i refused! CBs was wayyy better than GTL! So i gotta whole new phone company the number will be issued the 29th! I just pray all goes well! GOOD news for NY is SUPPOSEDLY next year sometime GTL is NOOOO MORE!

Make sure you find out from Holmes which provider they go through. When you determine that, contact them and see if they allow Vonage to manage your call billing. If they don't have a direct account with Vonage, you will need to set up a prepaid account with the company who provides service through the prison.

I have a prepaid account with CBS/TNetix so I can control my spending limit. I hope this was not too confusing!!

You guys are the best. I tell you what, this is an experience I will never forget. I've never had to obey so many rules. This feels like boot camp and it is a simple matter of approving me for a phone call. Sheesh!

I feel the same with you, i called 3 people today at the Jail, Mail Room, His Co and then i talked to the phone log girl! Sooo i feel better, i didnt even know tmobile had a homeline! LOL.. i have them for my cell, but i just gave them the house number, easier anyways, good luck girl, PM me your aim or msn so we can talk.. i called out of work today, not feeling well
