Powhatan Phone Calls???

I got a call today on my cell phone asking me if my Honey could add me to his phone call list. It said it could take up to five days does that mean he will be able to call me? Anyone know if Powhatan inmates can buy thier phone calls? I had another friend in prison years ago and he would buy the minutes himself and call me straight through cause he paid for them hiself.

No, VA DOC (which includes Powhatan, of course) doesn't allow the inmates to buy phone cards/minutes. We have to set up the accounts, etc, and the inmate just adds the number to his phone list. Now that you've gotten the call allowing him to add your number, he should be able to call providing you've set up the account with GTL (the phone company that VA prisons use). Sometimes they (GTL) allow a few phone calls to go through before setting it up - those will be billed to you directly - but not always. Check out the VA forum for a ton more information about how to set up your account, the phone number to call, etc.
