Default Talked to my son today & told him about all of you

This morning my son called... I don't think I've ever gotten a call from him on a Saturday morning, so it was a nice surprise. He sounded a little down at first, but sounded better by the time we ended our call. I told him about this website I found and how I posted a message and received so much support and compassion from all of you. He was surprised I did it, and then said that he was glad because he knows this is hard on all of us and said again, how sorry he is. Well, we all make mistakes.. it's how we handle them and learn from them that determines our character and he seemed to pick up on that because he said he's growing and learning to never take things for granted like he did before. He's still in county jail and waiting to go to prison... he's ready to serve his sentence and to move forward. It was a good call and we're okay. I hope you all are okay, even for the moment when you read this. I wish I could thank each of you in person. Jan

JL, I think all of our kids are happy we have support from other Mom's that are living through this. Just having someone that understands what we all are feeling as we go through this journey togather. Holding hands with you and big Hugs, Joni

It's true Jan, the more we learn about their world, the easier it is for them to talk to us. They are just amazed at what we find out here at PTO. When my son's prison was in a huge turmoil back in the summer, he called me for info! I got that through his prison site, and trust me those ladies know everything that is going on. Not the kind of low down I ever wanted to be giving my boy, but the closer you are to their world and with the support of others in the same boat, it sure makes things easier for them and you too. They are so amazed that you have been able to connect in some way to what it is they are going through, and doing it with them and other moms that are supporting you. PTO is a very special place.

I told my son about PTO when I joined the neighborhood here. I've shared information and stories that you have shared here. He's glad that I have an additional outlet where I can let it out. My son also thinks that his momma can and will walk through fire to do anything that must be done for him, his sister or anyone I care about. And he also knows that describes the people here on PTO. I'm grateful to all the friends I have here, and have been blessed to meet one of them, who has since become one of dearest friends. B.G. and her husband are like part of my family. God bless each mom, dad, and your precious sons and daughters.

Oh what a sweet sound when you hear "Hello Mom" and usually at the end it is"I love you Mom" I am so glad you heard from your son. I myself have not been so lucky and it has been a week now and starting to worry but have to put faith in that there is a good reason. I to am so greatful for all of you and each day find things alittle easier knowing I am not alone as much anymore.......Sandy

My son is in the HOLE, has been there since August. I haven't heard his voice since then. He can't make calls--which is good for my phone bill!!! I am so happy you got to speak to your son. It is so good that we all have each other to lean on. My son knows about PTO. He is happy that I have other moms who have answers for me when I need them. I have found things out on here that he didn't know about for weeks. God Bless all parents here on this forum. Many life long friendships are made here.

I have also told my son about this site and how much support and valuable info there is. I have only had 3 calls in 2 months, not by his choice but the circumstances he has been in. Good for the pocketbook but not for my psyche.

I have also told my son all about this wonderful web site. He will not be sentenced until 3/18 BUT I am thinking way ahead and getting as much info and support as I can. At first he was apprehensive and told me to not let my guard down as you never know what kind of people are on the web. I can only say I value his thoughts but I have found some of the nicest and supportive women on this site. I have been given answers and learned more than I ever could. First hand info is always the best. Just wanted to say stay supportive and maybe some of the not knowing will be eased.

Default What prison

Just curious to know what prison your child is in? My son will be sentenced on 3/18 and for 1 - 1/2yrs and I am trying to learn a little bit about the workings of any and all prisons in Cali. I hear from his lawyer that he will be sent to Donovan for reception and most likely but not sure as nothing is certain he will stay there. So I am trying to learn about Donovan and any other prison so I can ready when the time comes.

D'gal....you said"Be Blessed Today" and I am praying I am and get a call from my son. (8 days) and this could be the call we have been waiting for as to what fire camp he gets. Last night I felt sooooooo BLUE once it got past the time that he would be able to call. I hope nothing went wrong because he is so close. I have told him about all you MOMS and he said "You go mom, anything that will make you feel better"

SoCal.....He will get sent to reception for processing. My son went to Tracy-Ca and it took 3 1/2 mo. There were no phone call and it was so very long. I sent him stamps, paper, enelopes and pens (3) and they sent it back because of to many pens Make sure you read the rules as to what they will and will not let you send. I am sure when you find out where he is sent someone here can help you find those rules. I also sent 10 (that was the max.) pre-stamped envelopes with folded paper 3-4 pieces in them twice a week so he could use them or trade them for things he needs. My son is quit an artist and he drew on the envelopes and traded them off for others to send home for soap or soup or things to get him by till his money on the books caught up with him from county jail where he was prior to Tracy. If your son does not get to call like mine he will write all the time because they are in a cell for 23 hrs a day for the most part while being processed and have nothing to do. He read over 30 books while there and we sent 3 at a time per the rules twice a week. There are used bookstores all over that will mail them for you. It was hard for me the first time just to ask if they would mail them for me (you can't mail them yourself) and the lady turned to me and said "Honey don't you worry about a thing, my dad was in prison and we will make sure your son gets them" What a releif! You can send books form Amizon .com but it is really expensive and this way a few hours in a used book store looking for something interesting for your son is so much more personal. Our visitation papers were not processed in time by the time he was transfered to Susanville - CA so we had to start all over again when he got to Susanville, but did not take but 6 wks and we were off to see him....(8 mo.) I cried when I got to finally hold my son on our first visit and had not been able to touch him for 8 mo. what a good feeling it was. Keep us posted and when your son gets transfered I am sure someone here can help you walk this journey
Sandy

Yes, there are many life long friendships found here. Oldporkbutt and I both have our sons in the hole. And like Jancy said, we find out information sometimes before they do. My son also told me to keep my guard up as you do not know with it being on the internet and all, but I have met some wonderful, caring people here.

I know I am late but I would like to add my 2 cents. I love her user name and it makes me laugh.
From this site I have learned things that I did not want to know but needed to know. While my son was in reception one of the ladies went to visit and her husband got a message to my son. Blew his mind, he told me I know you can do a lot but getting me a message in prison. I loved it. Then the first time I visited my son, I was sitting right next to one of our mothers we meet and it was really nice to have someone I knew sitting right beside me. Again, I blew my son's mind. He loves that I have a place to learn and have the support he is unable to give me now. I just love you all Thanks.
