I ordered my man a TV about 3 weeks ago, and it's still sitting in the property room. My boyfriend said he should get it when they are off lockdown. He said that some guys were transferred there from salina's valley, and they all had their TV's with them, so I jumped on it and ordered him one that day. Now, he may never get it. I dunno. You shouldn't get it till you know for sure. It'd be a waste of money, like mine will probably be!!! I'll let u know if he ever gets it! It only takes like 4 days to get there after you order it. Well, that was from unionsupplycompany!

Since my man is leaving in 8 weeks, I asked a few of my friends, (that were in prison before) if they are allowed to leave the TV with someone else when they leave. He said only if they have a cool CO...which my man says there are plenty of in CTF. Not crooked, just treat the inmates like humans...not animals, (like at CIM where he was before). I dunno... the way things are going, it doesn't look like he's gonna get it either way!

no I haven't. My first visit is scheduled for the 19th. I'm not sure as to how they are, except for all the info I've read on the threads. I guess the appointment thing is a new process they recently started in July. The majority of the info I've heard about it, it's so much better than just walk-ins. I guess the CO's are pretty good there too. The only that sounds like a hassle is the bus ride. I guess you have to take a bus through the prison to get to the visiting area when you go to north. I'm excited about going tho.

Make appointments 2 weeks in advance. What I did was set my alarm on my phone to remind me to make the appointment. I made my appointment for the weekend of the 19/20 on the 4th. I emailed it at 9:55am on the 4th, which was 2 weeks before the weekend I was requesting. Since we are only given one day, either saturday or sunday, I just put which ever day was visitation day for North Lassen A! I got a confirmation email in a few hours! So, if you want to make an appointment in October, lets say the 24/25, put in the request on the 9th at like 10am! I've heard that you have to wait for hours if you call. Since the email worked out great for me, I'd suggest that!
ctfvisiting@cdcr.ca.gov

I copied and saved this address in my email so I'll always have it handy. Just a helpful tip! All you have to do is write you full name, who you want to visit, (including their hall and cell number) and for which date and time.

I'm really upset, my son was coming home on Nov 3rd from a parole violation. I just found out he's being charged with another felony, his second. Does anyone know if he will be sent back to So. CA for court? He was transfered to Soledad after the riot. I don't know if I can handle him spending more time in there, I was so looking forward to his Nov release.

awwwhh, I'm so sorry hun!!! I will keep him and your family in my prayers!!! I'm not really sure about the court thing, but I'm sure someone will be around shortly who might know. Maybe you should try to call his counselor on Tuesday. My man was one of the ones transferred to soledad after the riot too. He was at the east gym before he was transferred to CTF North lassen! He finally got to talk to his counselor on the 2nd, (after 3 months) so I'm sure they'll probably be talking to your son too! Good luck!

Welcome socalginger... I am pretty new myself to ctf my boyfriend just got transferred there about two weeks ago. He's in North Rainer B, but as far as I know, they have visits but either falls on saturday or sunday.. and they are in their cells 24/7 except for when they go shower. My boyfriend says they haven't had yard since he's been there. But feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks so mcuh for your response. My friend has been there about three weeks now and I though he would be done with orientation. I get letters about once a week but still have not recieved a phone call. Have you? I have also sent in my visitor questionnaire twice now; once to Delano and now to CTF. I am hoping that I will be approved soon. I have not seen my friend since early May. We have been best friends for 12 years now and this is real hard. Again, thanks for the quick response. Have a great week!

Ithink it takes about 12 weeks to be approved, but I could be wrong. which reminds me I have to call tomorrow and see If i have to reapply to visit him if I was approved at the last facility. but anyways You have a great week as well girl

Welcome Socalginger! Unfortunately, my bf has been there for over a month and he's still in orientation. They're taking their sweet time I guess! They are not allowed to make phone calls till they go to yard. According to one of the other wonderful ladies on the site, her husband heard from a couple CO's that things should be back to normal this week... which would be great! But for now, everyone is basically on lockdown. In their cells 24/7, cept for showers, (just like tanis said). Once they get yard, there's like 18 phones out there just waiting to be used! I'm hoping things will change fast!!!! Anyway, feel free to ask any questions u have. One of us is bound to have an answer. If we don't, we can tell ya how to get one! =)

I think I read on a recent post that it takes 3-4 months to get approved now. It took me 2 1/2. I sent my first request in around early June. I sent another in around early august just to make sure it didn't get lost. I got my approval letter from my bf the first week he was in CTF, (which was now 5 hours away from me rather then the 20 minutes when he was in Chino). That was in mid August.
Tanis, you don't have to reapply at a new facility as long as it's in the same state. however, I'd do it anyway... just to do it. By the time u send it, you'll prolly already get ur approval letter from him like I did... but it's better to be safe than sorry! =)
Good luck!

Hi Miss Daisy, I'm not sure about a train... but I think there are buses that go in and out of Soledad. I'm in los angeles too, but never looked into it. Let me know what you find out. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to give u a definite answer. You could probably try looking up "amtrak" or "Metrolink" and see.

Depending on where he is housed hopefully this will help. It was pulled from the Guide.

Quote:
HOW TO WRITE AN INMATE AT CTF

Indiviuals are free to contact any state prison inmate by mail. Incoming letters are opened and inspected for contraband and then forwarded to the inmate. The address for writing to inmates, sending money orders and for packages from approved vendors at CTF is listed below. To ensure prompt processing the following information should be included on the envelope:

Inmate’s full name, CDC#
Housing (preferable)
Correctional Training Facility
P.O. BOX
Soledad, CA ZIP

Correctional Training Facility
Central Facility
P.O. Box 689, Soledad, CA 93960-0689

Correctional Training Facility
South Facility
P.O. Box 690, Soledad, CA 93960-0690

Correctional Training Facility
North Facility
P.O. Box 705, Soledad, CA 93960-0705

To get an inmate’s CDC# or housing assignment, individuals should call the Public Information Officer (PIO) or the inmate locator at the institution (see below for phone numbers).

Those people who don’t know where an inmate is housed may contact the Department’s ID Warrants unit at (916) 445-6713. A date of birth will be required if the person they are inquiring about has a common name. ID Warrants will not provide inmate housing information
