I would just keep with the 559-992-9444.... they kind of get sh**y if you go through the operator.

It took me almost an hour before i got though today, but I got though. My friend at that time still had not got an open line. So when I was done I handed the phone to her so she could make her appointments.

SHU or not, it just takes a certain kind of person to love an inmate.

No, an inmates times never starts over just because of transfer. Visiting in the main visiting is cool. I do not visit the SHU. Call today and try and get an appt if you want to go this weekend. No, you do not have to resubmit a visiting form but do call and see if his visiting followed him because my mans did but the prison put me as pending approval when I had already been approved to visit since last August. I had to call the old prison he was at and the LT. called Corcoran and got it al straight.

Default Regarding appointments...

Hey ladies I got through in less than 2 minutes wow. I called the 559-992-8800 and just followed the instructions and made my visit. The other number 559-992-9444 kept kicking me off. Looks like I am going to see my man on the 17th.

Yeah we get fined if we have our dogs put up for too many hours at a time but yet the system pays to have our man in solitary confinement. Crazy. But I also except that my husband didn't get put there for no reason.

Does anyone know about Yard Time for SHU inmates? I was going to try to make an appointment to this week and want to make my appointment for a Sunday, but I heard that is the day they get Yard and I don't want to interrupt MRD's time when I can just as easily come on a Saturday. Any info is appreciated!

I know that they rotate per building (A vs B)on what times they give them for visiting. If A buildings on Saturday start visiting at 8:30 to 11:00 then on Sunday the are 11:30 to 2:00
So I would assume that if they start 11:30 n later then they would have yard time before that. But then we all know what assuming is.... and this the CDC so who knows.
Besides all that I'm sure he would have no problem cutting his yard time short or skipping it all together to get to see his woman. And I know that when it is this hot they rather skip yard time

Thanks so much Dragon! I have a visit this Saturday (was going to try to schedule one for the following weekend as well) and I will talk to the CO's and post what I find out.

Hey All,
I need some help. My boyfriend is in the SHU and was supposed to be released July6, however he has not been. Because he is classified as a level 2 inmate, and Corcoran has no level 2, he was supposed to be transferred to another facility after he finished his SHU term. Now they are saying they have no bed for him anywhere so he is forced to stay in the SHU past his time. Now people are sentenced to prison everyday, there has to be a level 2 yard somewhere in cali. It seems suspicious. Who can I call to inquire, or is this normal? Help... I miss him so much!!

Sunshine, heres the lady over COR and you can email her call her and she might explain more to you but really all prisons are packed and if someone is already on the list to go and your boo just got on a list it would be a minute. Its really the luck of the draw. Patience is what this requires.

Hello All,

Just wondering if you have had this happen to you and what you were able to do about it:

I scheduled a visit to see MRD at Corcoran (SHU) two weeks ago, as per guidelines. I showed up to my vist on time, dressed appropriately and with no issues being admitted into the facility. I was sitting at the booth, waiting for MRD to show when the visiting guard asked me if he was there yet. I said no, waited a few more minutes while he called the Sgt at MRD's cell block who informed him that MRD had been moved to the the other cell block whose visitation is later in the day.

I was then informed that MRD would not be allowed out for our scheduled visit and that I could take it up with the main Sgt. in the visiting office. They told me that I could either wait to see if someone cancelled their visit (since all visits for the new housing were booked) or I could leave.

My issue with this is I had driven 4 hours (left home at 3:30am to make my 8:30 appt on time) and was now being turned away for nothing of my own doing. I don't understand why they couldn't have called me yesterday to inform me that I would not be able to visit and would I like to reschedule. I would have been very understanding about that.

Has anyone else ever dealt with this?

I was warned about that once by a CO and now I call the prison towards the end of the Friday of the weekend I want to visit to be sure he is housed in the same place. Sorry you had to go through that.

Thanks Mrsgonzos! I figured the whole reason I give them my cell phone number when I schedule my appointment is for instances like this. I guess I'm just going to have to start calling the Friday before. Makes not sense to me that if visits are proven to help inmates succeed and not revert back to a life of crime that they would want to make it easier for them to visit their families and friends, oh well, job security for the CDCR I guess.

You should've asked for the visiting Lt. or the visiting Sgt. and because you had an appt you should've been allowed to visit. Did you drive from more than 250, you definitely should've been allowed. Sgt. Childress is not a good Sgt at Corcoran, all complaints against him are being sent to Sara Malone, I am not even dealing with these people there anymore.

Technically it is 232 miles from my front door to the gate at Corcoran (if I take Hwy 99) but if they need me to go 250 miles I can take I-5 and it is 254 miles! I did call Sara yesterday when I got back to Sacramento and I left her a message to please call me with information on incidents like this and what the actual policy is. Thank you so much for your information Luv Hurts, I really hope that everything is okay with MRD and I will post what Sara says (and it better be something good since I took an hour off work to make my appointment two weeks ago and then drove over eight hours total for no damn reason)!

Hello All,

Just wanted to give you an update on the SHU visiting issue I posted earlier. I had emailed Sara Malone the fact that though I had an appoinment to visit I was still turned away. She in turn spoke to the Warden, Captain Seyferd and Sargeant Childress. Captain Seyferd and Sara both called and apologized about the incident and informed me that Sgt. Childress is currently on vacation and when he gets back he will be replaced by Sgt. Fritz as the Visiting Sgt. In Charge. All in all the apology was very appreciated and I'm glad that even though I don't have the time/cash to visit again this month that they atleast realize that I was not in the wrong and they were the one's who screwed up. Hope this helps everyone else too!

If it is the female Fritz do not expect anything to get better. If there is amalebaned Fritz I wonder of its officer Fritzs husband. Imma handout this weekend. I am sure Sara is not liking the complaints involving Childress.

See this is why it is good to speak up, if you don't they will continue doing what they do. Sara doesn't play around and that's a good thing.

Good job!!!!
