Talking Early Mother's Day... My DarlingKat's going to be OK!

Hi to all my beautiful friends of PWCIP ~ I wanted to let you know you that my heart is swelling with hope and joy because my daughter Kat (who came home on April 8th) is doing OK. Of course, all of us Moms have that awful ungodly fear that something is going to go terribly wrong, and they have learned nothing from their experience in prison, or that all was for nothing. Please know that I do not have rose glasses on, and I still have guarded emotions because I know anything can still happen.

Well, my DarlingKat wrote me this poem as an early Mother's Day present but she needed a little help in the presentation and printing. I was happy & so proud that she asked me to help, and after reading the poem I can see (after only 4 weeks of being home) that she did indeed learn some of life's lessons, and I think I can now say that she is going to make it. She has been so good to me, and tells me everyday how much she appreciates me standing with her, and supporting her knowing the whole time that she had done wrong. She also told me she wrote this poem in a couple of hours, and I am thinking this child of mine needs to look further into writing poems. She has always believed that she could do no good, but I see that she is wrong, and has a lot to offer if she will only believe in herself. I keep telling her about this 1-line motto that I use every day and I believe in.

~ Life does not limit us, as much as WE limit ourselves ~ author unknown

Anyway, I don't know if I've done this right because I am not really into computers, but I hope this shows up and that you can read her message for me. It brought tears to my eyes, and I could hardly speak. I hope you all like it...

PS: This is one of the 1st ones that she saved in Word, but the final copy is on ivory parchment paper with a beautiful angel in the background, and I will be framing it this week.

Dove, that poem was so beautiful and I can tell it was written from the heart. I know that touched you so much and such tears of joy you must have felt. I really hope your daughter stays on the straight path, it sounds like she is doing wonderful and you need that in your life. I am so proud of her!!!

Default Wonderful...Mother....Vale

{{{{Vale Kat}}}}
Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem Vale. How proud you must be of your beautiful daughter not only for writing it but, for the words that came to her to be able to write it
The hair stood up all on the back of my neck reading this beautiful peoetry.
Kat my sweet young lady...You have such talent. If you don't already know this....You really need to sit down and write more of this. Maybe even make your own logo and do some cards or some stationary (or both) start your own business K&V Designs take it away!!
Congrats to you both and keep up the great work sweet one.
Love to you both.

Cool DarlingKat to Awesumdove

** Mother's Day **
My Wonderful Mother Vale

Making it through these times was very tough
The roads of my life were dark and rough
You were always there on my side
Knowing we were in for a rocky ride
We sometimes did not see eye to eye
But you still loved me, even when I told you a lie
Often times were tearful and sad
There were also times that were happy and glad
No mother can even come close to compare
To have a mother like you is so very rare
Doing my own thing, often very bold
I look back now and wish I did as I was told
Everyone is envious that you are my mother
Every man, woman, child, sister and brother
Realizing now how precious you are
I can catch my dreams to be great and go far
Financially and emotionally, I ruined myself
Again you are there for me, ready to help
Uppers, downers, bad relationships and all
You built up my spirit, never letting me fall
Love for your daughter you have shown without fail
It is for you that I have the wind back in my sail
Mom you have always been so strong
Even when I was so very wrong
Only you have been there in good times and bad
It breaks my heart knowing I made you so sad
Though we've had our disagreements and fights
Even in terrible times you stood up for my rights
Having all my troubles, you never played the judge
It still amazes me that you never held a grudge
Everyday I filled your life with sorrow and grief
I hope that this Mother's Day you will finally feel peace
Rampantly I have struggled with drugs and addiction
Like a statue, you stood strong through my affliction

Vigilantly you were there through my incarceration
And I hope to find a way to show you my appreciation
Luckily, I realize that all along you were my alliance
Even I know that only a mother's love could withstand a daughter's defiance.

Missingsteven, thank you for the info but I could not get it to work like you told me so I just copied into Reply to Thread. Like I said, I'm not really good at PC's and have been retired since 2000 so this is all new to me.

Thumbs up New hope and a beating heart again...

Thank you Russell's Mom, missingsteven, cdubmom, angel mathews, heartbrokenmom, djsmom ~ this gives me some hope that I haven't had for many years. Truly I thought she was going to be lost for the rest of my life, but here she is showing me so much appreciation and potential that my heart is starting to beat again.

Yes, I had to give her up to the Ohio DOC system, and I'm still not sure how much good they did for her, but the time away from family & children has made a lasting & permanent impression on her by seeing how many others have no one to support & love them, or that anyone even cares about them, and she was losing all this due to drugs & bad choices and behavior.
Much love to all of you and many warm (((hugs)))

I can barely see my typing for the tears in my eyes, your daughter wrote so much of what my son too has done and has been saying to me. I see our kids blossoming since they are clear headed and sober. the love in there is coming forth like a refreshing spring.
today I am very overwhelmed with gratitude to God for the blessings that pour over my son daily. today he was given a promotion and raise already at his job, very unexpected! he got a tattoo yesterday to remind him to be faithful to his son and commitments (lol-not my way of doing this but his )
so may God continue to bless our kids and also to bring along like Pied Piper....all the kids here whose parents are still loving and waiting to see the fruits of the efforts they have made these long years.

Thank you Jancy - My heart is now beating again , but I still have guarded emotions because she/he/they are just starting down this new path. I dare not put on my rose colored glasses because I know anything can still happen to anyone of our kids at anytime. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do as parents is to pray for them, and try to guide them when they do come to us for direction.

I am so happy & excited for you and your son, and sending many warm (((hugs))) to you.
