Here are the new visiting hours for Deer Ridge Minimum that go into effect June 26, 2009:

Minimum Facility Visiting Hours
Effective June 26, 2009
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm Friday11:30 am - 4:00 pm Saturday7:00 pm - 9:30 pm Saturday
11:30 am - 4:00 pm Sunday and Holidays
This is to accommodate Deer Ridge's newest cost saving idea? Serve a brunch at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (the only thing that appears to be different about the brunch from regular breakfasts is that it includes cold cereal) and then there will be no lunch and the inmates will not be served another meal until their evening meal starting at 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. For 2 days that's a savings of over 1200 meals at a cost of $$$??? per meal.

I'm appalled at this idea. When the guys play sports or work out or plain and simply work on the weekends, they need more than two meals a day that have to be gobbled down in 20 minutes. Okay, that's my vent for the day. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I agree about the meals. And then we have all the rest of the tax payers complaining about providing "the inmates" three meals and a cot. Well, someone needs to let people know they aren't getting three meals, and some are paying for their cot. Then, the food that comes out, often is unfit to eat. There, that is my rant. Back to the reason you started this thread.

Thank you so much for posting the new visiting hours for us. I will try to remember this when I get the rest of the prison profiles done, so I can update this one again.
