Default Family giving jobs to inmates who qualify for work release?

I just heard that an inmate who is approved for work release cannot be employed by family members. Is this true? Is this just for immediate family members or could cousins and or aunts/uncles still employ them?

That is true. They don't consider family employment a viable option as they would not be as likely to report any violations. Family would be more likely to cover for them so they would not get into more trouble.
However this is a rule not a law so there may be exceptions depending on the circumstances. Since it is so difficult to find a job these days DOC may consider an exception.
