Default New to PTO

Hi. My name is Angie, wife to Danny. Mom to 5 great kids. My husband is currently on 70 month bid in at Davidson Co. Correctional. I guess he's not supposed to be there yet, we still have 38 months to go but my mother in law has become disabled since he's been locked up so he got closer to home. Talk about your double edged sword. Moms got to be hurt to have him closer to us. I guess we should be thankful though. As I am for this website. Any new news would be greatly appreciated.

Smile Welcome Angie

Hi Angie,

Welcome to PTO. This is a great place for support during the rough days.

I expect your 5 kids keep you busy and I admire you doing it single handedly.

My son is in for a little less than 2 years now and is still at Piedmont CI going through the AND (replaced DART) program. He will graduate Dec. 3rd and we're hoping he will get closer to home for the rest of his sentence.

Hey there! I'm Autumn. I am 32 yrs old with no kids. My loved one is serving 4 more yrs on a 7 year sentence and is currently in transition on his way to El Reno Federal Correctional Institute. I am a North Carolinian and wasn't sure where I should post, seeing as there is a NC and an OK forum...I'd like to start with NC since I'm a tarheel born and bred! I don't really know where the appropriate place would be for my question, but I want to know if any of you have someone doing time with yrs left on their sentence...what do you do to keep it interesting for them? I mean, we write and talk on the phone...I can't visit him any time I want as he is 17 hrs away from me and I work and go to school full time. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to PTO Autumn! I love your name. My son used to date a girl who's name was Autumn Raine and she had it tattooed in a beautiful font on her neck under her long hair. I thought it was so sexy - both the name and the tattoo!

You will probably find yourself going back and forth between the two forums. If you have questions about the facility he is in you might post there and if you feel more comfortable talking about "stuff" in here then that will be fine too.

I was born, raised and expect to die in North Carolina. I can't imagine living anywhere else. After all this has to be God's country since he painted the sky Carolina blue, right?

My son is doing a 36 month sentence for a DUI + other charges. This is his 3rd or 4th time in and his longest sentence. He's a slow learner but I pray he is getting it this time.

Like you I want to keep him interested too so I send him lots of pics, send him a book that he and I can read together to discuss, I put a trivia question on his envelope with answer hidden in the letter, I print off articles I find on the internet that might interest him and other little things like that. Most of the time I'm the only one writing him so our letters are long to each other. I also include jokes, cartoons and news on prison bills in the house/senate for him. He shares those with the other prisoners and he likes doing that. One thing about them being in prison is we get quality time to talk - not necessarily on the phone - but in letters.

Again welcome to PTO!!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!! My husband is at Robeson CC (a minimum camp) and has about 19 months to go, he has been in since April this year. We have been together for 12 years and just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Since he has been in I have moved from California to New York to live with family and I visit him as often as I can (about every 6 weeks or so)...This site has been so helpful through the good days and the many not so good days. There are some truly amazing people on here that have been through some tough things. With each passing day it is one day closer to our loved ones coming home. Going through this has showed me that I am alot tougher than I thought I could ever be...but then again that is all I have left is to be strong, every thing else is gone. I will not lie and tell you that it gets easier, for me it hasn't, but I have learned to cope and I have learned to deal with it. Send lots of letters and pictures. I send jokes, puzzles and make up silly little games...The best of luck to you!!
