Question Transfers between KS prisons?

Has anyone had experience with their loved one being transferred between prisons in KS? My husband is in Hutch and it would be great to have him move closer to family by transferring to Lansing. They have denied his request for another 6 months. Anyone have ideas? Are there advocacy groups that could help us get him moved?

I cannot remember the procedure for sure, but I know part of it is remaining DR free for either 6 months or a year. His counselor will outline what he needs to do to be considered for a transfer.

ok, thanks. I appreciate you responding.

I wasn't sure if because of budget issues they would even consider moving guys around.

Right now all of the men's prisons are at or very close to capacity, so there's not much room to move, and spaces are I think being reserved for people who _need_ to be at Lansing for a program (e.g., SOTP). He might try investigating the programs that are at Lansing and see if he can apply for one of them (maybe the college classes?).

Does anyone know anything about El Dorado, Kansas correctional facility? My fiancee is trying to get a interstate compact to be transfered from Grady, Arkansas to El Dorado, Kansas.

I'd been told that in the absence of an extreme hardship (my hardship of having a special needs son wasn't going to cut it) they were not considering transfers at the moment. I assumed it was due to space available and budgetary concerns.
