Angry 25 to life=Forever in prison??

does anyone know if there is at least an average of how much time in prison does a person who was sentenced 25 to life do?
i KNOW it is at least 25 years, but what I am reading on here parole boards seem to be pretty strict now a days. Does anyone have any idea if maybe prisoners do normally 30 years or just 25 exact when handed down a sentence like 25 to life?
Thanks in advance

My personal opinion-it probably depends on the situation, if the offender is a repeat offender, parole restrictions and requirements of that state, who is making the decision, and honestly what is going on in legislation at the time.

I know someone within CDCR that was sentenced to 25-Life. He was
Eligible for parole as of 2009 after 12.5 years. I dont know if he got parolled or not though.

someone please correct me if im wrong ~
eligibility for parole depends on the inmates prison behavior, ability to program and insight of the crime they were sentenced for.
in cali a term lifer is eligible to qualify for parole at 85% of the term served (25 to life would qualify after 21 years served).

I personally know of a few different lifer cases. one guy serving a 15 to life term has never received a single write up / 115 and has acquired hundreds of certificates, but has been denied twice by the board now for lack of insight of his crime (I thought there was a law passed in regards to banning that as part of reason to deny a role model inmates suitability, but i guess i was wrong)
there have been two other lifers who have been found suitable once they were qualified to, but then the Governor rejected the states decision yet after appeals and ending up in the Federal Courts victory was a success and the term lifers were released - I forget what their terms were and how many more years they served on top of the term, but they have both recently been released.

The great thing is, term lifers have a second chance at society! It's up to them how they chose to make the best of that chance....

Default parole board

someone who has went 2 jail in 96/97 might not see the parole board to 2020/2021. if approved he will get out b/w 2021/2022. so you can do the math from there. it varies from state to state and depends on his charges. how he behaves while he's in jail. if he gets into trouble while he is in jail he can pick up more time and possibly be denied parole. it's up to him.

Ca parole boards base decisions on origional charges, giving no cosnideration for anything else. This practice has been deemed unconstitutional, and prisioners should file a writ of Habeus Corpus. Check out Prison: Inmate Parole Release Law, 888-200-8385.

I thought there was like a max out date like if you get 25 to life you would max at like 38 or 40 or something like that...

Nope. 25 to life is open an open ended sentence. It's up to the parole board weather or not you get out.

My ex-boyfriend just recently recieved an out date for next year, his sentence is 25-life and he has been in for 21+years to date. in Oregon, there are few inmates still under the old parole structure but he is one. From what I understand, he will still be on parole forever, he can be revoked until the end of his sentence, which is life.

Each state is different, California is very strict. Currently only 2% of Lifers each year are released. The one's that have been released are lower level crimes. It has yet to be seen what will happen with the 3 Strikers who have that sentence. His record with have to be very clean, no write ups etc... Good luck to you both.

My friend has 15-Life and will not be eligible for parole until he has served every day of the 15 yrs. Gotta love California. (not so much right now.) you would think he actually hurt someone to get life but nah...

Cool

The love of my life was given a sentence of 25 yrs to life in NY in 1989. He is on the 22nd year of this sentence & is not eligible for parole until 2014 which is his 25th year served. I pray that he will be released @ that time. But I do agree w/ other members that behavior will have an influence on their parole.

Strangely enough I wish that it was already closer to him being out. Like
if he doesn't win his appeal then I wish it was year 14 already.
