I'm so confused on which prison call company to use..HELP!

I'm seeing many different options when I google for cheaper prison calls. Yet when I look for complaints, each one has it's own side. Can anyone give me an idea who is best to use with out so much risk of hidden charges. All I have is a cell phone and my son is being held in a 'jail' system and keeps getting moved within the the state of Wisconsin until they figure out where he'll be. He is now in Sheboygan Detention Center. I called them about use of cell phones and they don't even know if it's allowed! I've paid out so much already in calls and I can't continue this since my husband and I are both unemployed. Any help will be so appreciated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the prison he is at will use one company or another, usually GTL and I think CBS or something like that. Now, I can only speak for GTL when it becomes necessary to start an account with them(I say necessary because if you have for example Verizon you can get collect calls as long as you don't go over a certain amount without dealing with GTL at all), generally they will make you send them a copy of your telephone bill...which has to match your address. They do this in order to stop people using other zip codes, and using cheaper companies to save money. I have heard in my state people using other companies and trying to get around their ways, but almost always, sooner or later, GTL cuts them off. Jails are generally easier to deal with and you may be able to use one of the companies for the jail, but when and if he moves to prison I doubt you will be so lucky.
