Hi Sandy
I have been waiting for you to pop in. I am going to get the Australia Forum started, I have been putting the word out through the prison system, legal services, etc. Would you like me to email you a PTO flyer to hand out at visits? PM me if you are interested. We need to get our sister countries together through this.

Sandy
You have to tell us about visits? You said visits were isolated nearly? why is that? All these questions. Does your prison system sound the same as ours???

Default Reintegration

Kyla, you have done a great job of posting info on every prison in NZ. It makes me so mad to read what they say they do when I know they dont do it. Currently my partner has served 12 years and is due to be released in the next few months. He has frequently applied for day and/or weekend leave so that he can gradually be reintegrated after such a long time. However time after time they turn him down. Thats when I decided to go to my local politician who took up the fight on my behalf. Thats also when his prison manager told him that thanks to me being a trouble maker they were transferring him. So it looks like after 12 years of prison they will throw him out with no reintegration. In prison one day and out the next. We believe they are setting him up to fail. I know different. I know that our love for each other will get us through the difficult times ahead. I will try to comment on some of the prisons you have posted.

Hey Treehugga - love your handle! Welcome to the fro! I'm from over the drink from you, but I have had a few serious thoughts of going over to NZ for some music festivals sometime, do some horseriding up in the mts & soak up some amazing culture (and excellent music!). Might have to wait a while now, I don't think my partner will be able to go over with me until after parole ends

Good luck with the family visit
Kia ora!

Hi Kiwigirl - yep I have just joined this group. my brother has been on remand in Silverwater Australia since the beginning of dec. he is a kiwi but been in auz for 18 years. our family is finding it extremely hard with being so far away. I have just found out today that he has been moved and no-one can tell us where he has been moved too! i cant believe that they can just move them - now of course the worry starts all over again - where/what/who are they in with - im sure they do this just as the inmate is starting to adjust! so angry and so upset!!!!!!!

Smile Hi from "shaky" Christchurch also

I have to admit to not being on this site for some time. What with work etc I find my time gooooooone ! However I will try to check in more often. This site was a true saviour for me when I was first released in Christchurch and if I can assist anybody I would be happy to do so

cheers

Hi Meg 62

Hope you are finding things ok at the moment, not sure while our men are inside we can ever feel complete but we have to make the most of what we have. Hope it has gotten a little easier for you, know you are not alone, there are lots sharing your pain with you and know exactually what you are going through.
Im a long time prison wife so feel free to vent to me any time about what ever, I am happy to shoulder your venting, lol and its ok to vent and get angry and of course the loneliness is the worse but to be able to share with others that know exactly what you are going though is huge.
All the best and Kia Kaha.

Inmates are usually told where they will be transferred to. I hope he's smart to write you and give you the address as it takes a bit of time before they show up at the new jail location and they are immediately removed from the computer system as soon as they have left the previous one.
