How long are the visits at SS? I have a 4 hour drive to get there...I would hate if it was only 30 minutes. (i'd still go to see my hubby, but i'd be pissed)

visits are supposed to be 2 1/2 hours but they often start later so they're usually a little less. visits never ever go over time if they start late...so the later it starts the less time you get.

here is a link to visit regs: http://www.state.nj.us/corrections/p...ation/SSCF.pdf

yep, if you go on the morning visit, if you get there by 7:30 you'll have a decent spot in line... seems no matter how early i get there, 6:30, 7:00, i can never get below number 16, i think some people get there at 4 or 5 am!! LOL it's crazy...

This may be a silly question, but does it matter what shoes i wear? And are there any other dress code quirks for SSCF that I should know?

nothing too sexy... no flip flops, no sandles without 'a back" to them.... i wear jean capris usually, not skin tight, not loose, and a V neck cap sleeve top, snug but not skin tight, and i get in fine.. i usually stick to a black shirt, one day they're throwing people out for a red top, or white top, the next week they let them through, black is safe... HAVE A GREAT VISIT!! i'll be there Saturday the 4th, or whatever the date is!!

No Orange either...and the last few weeks they have been denying gray as well. And don't forget that khaki pants count as tan!

Also, for some reason the guards seem to think coral clothing is orange, so don't risk it...lol!

NO hoodies...i had to rip the hood off my shirt to get in...lol! Good luck, and hope you can enjoy a visit!

Don't forget about white either! When I was there they weren't letting anyone in with a white shirt because the inmates where white shirts!

I have worn white plenty of times, but not a plain white tee. As long as its a blouse or different style they let it through

Default Registration time for AFTERNOON visits

Question! I know afternoon visits start at noon or there about, what time can you get there to get in line? I've only been to afternoon visit once before and I forget... It's B's birthday Sunday, so I want an extra long visit and don't want to be number 50 in line!! Anyone know about what time everyone starts lining up for the afternoon visits????

Thanks!!

I didn't respond because it's been a few years and I'm really not certain, but I remember getting there in the am about an hour and a half before they started registration. We kind of kept track ourselves who pulled in the lot 1st, 2nd etc and that's how we lined up. (of course there were always people who tried to butt into the line and insist that they were there before you! LOL! ) Make sure that you stand your ground about where you are in line or you'll be pushed to the back! (This was compound B, not sure how A works I think they hand out tickets) You aren't allowed to get out of your car until they say you can to line up either, unless it's extremely hot then they let you stand outside of your car in the parking lot. Anyway....getting back to the time, I would get there about an hour and a half early. Hope this helps!

Hey guys! I just got a letter from my baby that I'm approved for visit, but I have no idea where he is in there. He always tells me to write on letters addressed to him "4-RIGHT" but I have no idea what that means! I wanna visit him tomorrow, but I don't know what to do and where I would go if I don't know what compound he is on? I tried calling the prison, but no one answered! Help!!

there are only 2 places to visit there, when you pull in the parking lot, you will see a building with a huge blue roof, don't go there. ha! you will see where everyone is walking, if it's morning visit, get there by 7:30, if it's afternoon, get there by 12 noon. You will see which way to go, just don't go towards the blue roof! Good luck and have a great visit!

Thank you Neyah. I know he is in SSCF but I wasnt sure of the compound (if it was A or B) since the DOC site doesnt tell you that. But I emailed someone on the site and they told me. At the bottom of the DOC page (after you look them up) there is an email address where you can ask questions about your inmate. They got right back to me. Thanks for responding to me.
