Oh, I'm so sorry that this is happening. I hope that your son can stay clear headed through this, and that things work out as best they can...
You're in my thoughts and prayers, how heartbreaking for you when he has been doing so well (hopefully that will help him)

Oh Sarah!

Wow.....I so understand your dilemna! I have the same belief that I will help my son when he is helping himself but if not, nor will I. I am praying for you so hard.....we all know life is full of ups and downs, peaks and valleys. I love his Attorney.....her attitude is great!

Hang in there, keep us updated and I hope your son's successes will shine through.

Thinking about you both this evening and everything will be OK, I hope. I will say a prayer for your Son.

The DTF guy called. He said he wants to talk to the assistant DA before my son turns himself in. And he didn't get to her today. So he said he will talk to her tomorrow then call us and tell us what my son is supposed to do. I have a feeling my son's attorney called him and spoke with him this morning because his exact words when he called me were, "I will talk with her (The DA) tomorrow and see if we can get this taken care of."
I hope it means he will drop the charge to a misdemeanor.. but if not, whatever happens, happens and we will deal with it.

Also, I invited the DTF guy to our next seminar so he can see for himself the good work my son is doing and he said he would love to come and to email him the details. Shouldn't I take that as he has faith my son will at least get a bond? He has not been given a bond for the last four arrests...

It sounds positive to me that the DTF guy wanted the details of your seminar. Also sounds like your attorney is definitely doing her job well. I will keep your son in my prayers tonight and tomorrow. Sounds like he could use a little mercy - well, we all could.

Have you heard any more Sarah? I've been thinking about you today and see that you haven't been back in a few days. I sure hope that's because things are going well. You and your son are still up there on my prayer list.

Thanks everyone. We are still waiting. The warrant is still in the computer. His attorney spoke with the DTF guy, the probation officer and the District Attorney. So far everyone is in agreement that because he has walked away from that life and everybody knows it they want to work it out as a misdemeanor with probation though he may have to do some weekends. He has to see his PO Monday morning and we hope she doesn't violate him when he walks in. They have switched him from his old po to this new woman and it sucks that the first time he meets her it will be with this crap being around. The good news is that it doesn't look like he will be hit with a felony though the warrant is a felony warrant. They said we should know something by the middle of this upcoming week. It has been the weirdest experience we have had yet and we have had MANY experiences with police, courts, jail, community corrections etc. Technically because my son has not been charged, or questioned, I dont think it is a violation of probation yet but its really splitting hairs to view it that way right? LOL

He stays in the house, does not go out, does not have anyone around at all. He. Just. Waits.

Okay, so he went to the PO today. She said she has no choice but to violate him for getting this felony warrant put out there. We knew that. It's her job. But she is going to talk to the judge, have the violation warrant signed in the morning and let my son turn himself in rather than get picked up at work or (shudder) here at my house. The felony warrant is still in the computer so when he turns himself in for the misdemeanor violation he will be hit with the felony warrant. Everyone involved seems to think he will have a combined bond of only $3,500 which is much better than the 25,000 to 30,000 we were expecting. Once that happens, he will wait for court and hope it all works out. The PO doesn't seem bent on him doing jail time for the violation, the DTF dude doesn't want to send him to prison and the DA wants to have it done with as little hassle as possible. Now if the judge feels the same as everyone else we should be good to go. LOL
The DTF and the PO sent him emails letting him know that if they do this for him so that he can continue his seminar work, if he messes up again they will BOTH push for prison, no questions asked. He said it is more than fair and he understands their stipulations for this kindness. Wish us luck. He has not been given a bond in the past 5 years.. always held without bond. Hopefully this all works the way they say it will.
Our original concern was that DTF would want 'something" in return for them agreeing not to push for prison on this.... and my son will never do anything like that... so we figured they would approach, he would tell them where to put it and they would charge him with the felony and push for prison. But none of that happened. They have not approached and have actually said they wont because (A) they know he will say no (B) the last thing they want to do now that he is doing so well, is ask him to reconnect with a bunch of druggies. So it looks like God is simply engineering a wonderful thing for this boy of mine. I hope he appreciates it down the road when the immediate risk is no longer in his face.

It sounds like everything is going to work out to your son's advantage. I just hope he really thinks long and hard about their warning to him. That's kind of what happened with my son. They quite simply weren't going to give him any more chances. I'll keep praying for you guys though. You can't ever have too many prayers....hugs...niki

If the PO, the DA and the DTF guy are all voting for no jail time for him it sounds like it should be smooth sailing w/the judge. I pray he gets the break he needs in this to keep going the right direction. Hope this seals the deal for him and he never turns back!! Please let us know how it all goes. God Bless!

I'd say your boy is getting the break of a lifetime.
I think my son also got breaks because he worked...blah...blah...blah. Tell your boy to stay being good because all this stuff becomes like a snowball effect as the paper trail grows. (Just a lil experience on that ) But I really am glad they aren't taking him away from you. That sux's so bad when they do.

Thanks Bumble. We do know about how it snowballs. At one point, several years ago, the local police dept. nicknamed my son "Lil Scarface". He did things that would shock most of society. The police had photos of my son in each squad car when my son was 17, so that they could recognize him on sight... To this day new officers are told of him and about him even though he no longer collects drug debts, carries guns etc..they are STILL told about who he was back then. It sucks. This whole thing has been so strange for us... now he calls the jail to turn himself in and they have NO warrants in the computer for him. This is scary, because sometimes DTF will pull the warrant and hold it themselves so they can come catch you on the street and arrest you. His PO told him flat out yesterday that DTF called her and informed her of the charge and warrant.... so the fact that it is no longer in the computer is very odd. And how can she file a violation warrant if the charge warrant is missing? Oye..the entire thing has been very nerve wracking for my son to say the least but whatever will be will be. We. still. wait.
Here is the embarrassing part. Our local media carried a story about a recent drug sweep that occurred in our county. Normally I get a call from DTF and police chiefs inviting me to go on the sweep to get a story for the paper. I ride with one of the units etc...
This time I was never notified... ya want to know why? Because my freaking son's name was on the sweep arrest list. How embarrassing is that??? Sometimes I want to move, far far away.
