I went to dollar tree and they have these little glass light catchers that you paint yourself with this translucent paint. It comes with yellow, green, red, and BLUE! Haha! Just painted the first coat. Think it needs a second though. :/ YAY!

My son was sentenced and sent to prison 10 days before Christmas last year, the holiday just slipped past us completely, I wasn't planning on decorating this year, but I LOVE the idea of the blue lights. Thanx Jancy, I'll be shopping this weekend for blue candles for our window!

yep here ya go...the candle is pic is kinda dark. the nightlight is in my bathroom year round. I have about a dozen candles and they go in all my windows at Christmas with the blue bulbs in them.

they still sell the candles at target and I bet at walmart too as well as Lowe's I would think.

I wasn't going to decorate this year if my son was still in jail but I love the blue light idea. Btw, my son worked at Kmart last year, so this is perfect!

I just logged on to ask where I could find electric candles and, what do you know, the answer was there. Thanks, Jancy! I'll check out Target today.

Putting a blue light in the window will help me get more into the spirit, I think. I've always loved decorating, but we aren't going to decorate for Christmas this year because our one son is in prison and the other one is currently living in Germany. That means no kids, or grandkids, around this year. We've decided to visit our son in prison instead. We've always had a houseful on Christmas and, since he's 8 hours away, we never had the time to see him unless it was before or after Christmas. I have to admit that I am really excited to spend the 24th and 25th with him, even though I'm trying to imagine spending those two days in a prison and eating food from the vending machines! Knowing that our blue light is shining in the window for our son and the other inmates is going to give me a feeling of peace. What a great idea!

I read your posts about your son being only 20, how much longer does he have to go? being in prison since he was 14 had to be so senseless! May God encourage you both thru this time, Rosa.

Life at 14???? What is wrong with this country???? How can anyone sentence a child to an entire life in prison???

I am horrified at this! I truly pray that your son shows the world how valuable he is by how he spends his time. I pray that God uses him to reach out to others as He used Paul and the other apostles who spent time in prison. Even while in chains in dungeons, their lives shone out an example and blessed all those around them. ((HUGS and tears))

((HUGS)) your son is a one of a kind, unique child of God. There is no one like him on earth. he is the son of a King. God can use him wherever He is and he can make something bad turn into something good. My son always liked Romans 8:28.

This is just such a beautiful idea. I don't have a child in prison, but I will have a blue light in my window this year for all prisoners across the world. I hope my blue candle in the UK will help all who read this realise they are thought of around the world.

I have a white tree and all the decorations are blue and silver, so this is going to add to it so well.

I wish all of you with children in jail/prison as loving and peaceful a holiday season as possible, and I send prayers and positive wishes to all of your children, and those you hold dear - peace.
