Default Q's for 60 day 2nd DUI Theo Lacy

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't really sure which part to ask this in. I was charged with a 2nd DUI given a 60 day sentence and given the option of private/weekend jail.

- How much time should I expect to serve? (No other priors aside from the 1st DUI.)

- Although I'm ordered to Theo Lacy, I've seen some threads where other inmates are getting transferred. Should I expect that or not because of the relatively short amount of time I'd be in?

- I can do the weekends to keep my job, but the private jails are just so costly. I can take a leave of absence at work, but probably not without disclosing the jail time unless I can come up with a better, believable reason, and probably provide documentation. I'm worried how this would hurt my chances for further advancement within the company.

- Bottom Line, in your opinion should I do private or regular jail? What makes regular jail most appealing is the reduction in time, but from what I've heard and read it's somewhat negligible probably serving 60-some-percent of what I've been sentenced.

- Are there any private jails that I should be looking into or that you can recommend in the LA to San Gabriel Valley region?

Thanks for any help.

I have 2 DUI's in Orange County. After going back and forth to court for almost a year, I was granted house arrest, which is extremely expensive. I had the option of Public or Private jail. If you were sentenced to 60 days in jail, you will serve 30 days. Private jail does not give you a reduction in time in the OC, so you are talking 30 weekends, about 9 months, sounds super unbearable having to look forward to jail every weekend for 9 months.

I was considering private jail in order to keep my job as well, however, public jail is the way to go because you will most likely be in general population and your time will go by quick as it is only 30 days. That decision lies with you. It is my understanding that if you do weekends, you could be at Theo Lacy or the Main (might be different for Men). I don't think they will send you to the farm is you do weekends. But there are other city jails you can serve your time like Fullerton, Anaheim, Huntington Beach, etc. But that specific jail has to approve you. If you decide to do the 30 days, you will go the farm for sure, which is not that bad, and the food is WAY better there.

You points are valid as I have pondered the same options, the only thing keeping you from an easy 30 day stint at the farm is your job. If you can take 30 days off work, I would do that. I have 2 DUI's and I have never had it keep me from employment as I work for a bank and they never even mentioned it. Good Luck!
