About i month ago I received the rules for mail so I scanned it into a PDF file. It looks like it's a newer version than the one posted earlier.

Default Mailing Film Scripts to Inmates

Hi,

My friend is in CCWF with a LWOP sentence. She recently mentioned to me to that she really likes the look of the Black Swan film, but in CCWF they can't see films with an 'R' rating. My friend also told me that she was trying to find out if the film was based on a book that she might be able to obtain and read.

Thanks to Google I couldn't find any reference to a 'Black Swan' book but was able to find the film script. So I've condensed down the 107 pages to 27 a4 sized sheets (4 pages per sheet, 2 back/2 front) and posted it to my friend in 3 envelopes (9 sheets per letter).

Does anyone know what the chances are that she'll receive the script? There are some mild sexual references and the occasional 'f' word. I've also sent my friend a short note saying that if the letters are rejected, I'm happy for them to be destroyed rather than her having to pay for them to be sent back to the UK.

I'll update later to confirm whether the script made it through, but it takes a week for post to get from the UK to CCWF and visa-versa. So I won't know until around the 7th March at the earliest.

Chris

Thanks to my friend Wyrenut for pointing me to the forum.

Hi all,

My friend did receive the film script that I sent to her. I said that I'd update the forum when I heard.

Regards,

Chris

Back on topic:

I've heard many complaints lately that Mail is running extremely slowly as of this date. If you haven't heard from an inmate in a while, this may be the reason.

Why it's running so slowly, I have no idea!

My PenPal(PP) brought this to my attention.

New computer documentation training for the COs is a possible reason behind the slow down. Less staff, less productivity.

Mailings OUT seemed to be on track, the mailings IN were being slowed.

The training has just ended, my PP says mail deliveries are picking up again.

A few weeks ago I heard from the mail room that there were some layoffs. I also asked a C.O. today when I saw my Fiance about the mail, he said the mail room is down to 3 people instead of 6. My Fiance has told me it has been taken 20 days for her to receive my mail and this includes magazines.

I was asked my a friend in texas if Ca. has J-pay mail??? she said she used to buy stamps on jpay and send messages to her daughter through the jpay...then they would print out the message and give it to the inmate???
Is this possible at CCWF ??? I would love to be able to do that for my daughter.
Please reply thanks so much

dang I just noticed that my last post posted like 5 times whats up with that
Anyways I hope someone will respond to my question ...I just ordered my daughter 5 paperback books...(PS I found the book black swan on barnes and noble .com)
I was wondering if it is important to have the housing location on the order form...for some reason there is no space to add it all...I really hope the books will find her.
Also what happens if someone else sends her 5 more books??? I know the limit is 5 books how does that work??? I hope they dont deny them and send them back that would be a drag. I hope someone comes along and eases my concern...I always worry when I send things...
Thanks so much

No you do not have to put the housing number as long as you put her CDC# they will find her. If she gets more than 5 books she can put them with her property or donate or give or trade them to a friend. I have sent several books to my Fiance and that is what she has done.

Question: Can we send pre-stamped envelopes and loose paper? Or does it have to be regular envelopes with stamps?

Nevermind got the answer....40 pre-stamped envelopes, and up to 500 sheets of paper, have to be white or yellow....FYI for anyone else who didn't know!

Default Mail backed up

Yes! Mail is backed up by about three weeks. My girl said they found "something" in the mail and so now they are going through everything closely.

If she is fairly new? She may of been transfered to Valley State Prison & the mail will take a bit to reach you * out going mail will be alittle slow. She also maybe she just doesn't think she has news & will write soon. Don't worryom* I went through that & thought the worse. They do get put on lock down though & can't write. Try not to worry, you will hear soon* Gellybean*

My daughter just got the letter her son wrote back on April 21st, she wrote the letter on 5/27/11 and I got it on 5/30/11 so the mail is coming out fast but getting to them really slow!!! That make it hard opn the ones in reception who cant call home
I guess thats the way it is so what can we do I write her every day and she has not got any letters...
I hope they catch up soon...People should follow the rules and not mess it up for everyone...I call the mail room when I have a question about what can be sent and what cant be sent...
Hopefull everything will be moving soon

Default mail is running slow...

Ok i talked to my daughter today and she said the last letters she got was dated May 8th 2011...and I write her every day there is something in the mail to her...what is up with that...she is still in reception so its very hard on her becuase we cant visist and she cant use the phone ( she worked her butt of to get this call) and she has'nt gotten any mail on a regular basis...It breaks my heart...They need to know that they have us for support and they cant even get mail...its been tough on her...she has been in recpetion now for 64 days and its been tough for her.
I guess they found something in a letter and now the mail is backed up becuase they have to search every letter more throughly...I understand that part...but come on get some help in the mailroom already...budget cuts or not the inmates need to get thier mail.
Ok thanks for letting me rant....
I know they are doing the best they can...I'm just a mom who is upset. I'm just happy i actually got a call from her...but she was so sad about the mail...thats why I'm upset.
Thanks again
