Default Terrell Griswold-BCCF Colorado dies

Terrell was a non-violent offender, with a 4 yr. sentence, due to parole in 2011. However, he died while in the care of BCCF, Las Animas CO. Terrell was just 26yrs old, and should be alive right now. There is word out that another inmate died at that same facility in October 2010. Anyone have any information about Terrell's death on 10/28/2010. We LOVE TGRIZ and need some answers............Anybody have some news?

Thank you for your condolence. Sorry about the death of your father, and the void you have been left with. Our family has been very hurt by Terrell's death, which should have never happened. We have gotten more information now & it seems a serious medical illness was handled incorrectly, emergency medical care was denied for days, until it was to late & Terrell stopped breathing. It seems prison death are on the rise today, poor or sometimes no medical care at all is at the heart of some of these inmate deaths. As long as profits come before humanity, this trend will continue. Our family is concerned and we will never not stop demanding that the CCA & DOC answer up for there parts in the repeated outcomes of loss of young lives. Totally wrong, horrible and devastating that this is going on with impunity for the jailers.

If an autopsy was performed ask for a copy of the report from the medical examiner's office. In some states its confidential and they won't give it to you. Also the district attorney's office in the county may conduct a "death investigation". There is also internal affairs at the unit. I am speaking of State units and not federal which I know very little about. But there should be an autopsy report which should explain what caused his death.

I am on a mission to find the very same answers as to why my son was handed the "death sentence" by the incompetent doctors where Matthew was incarcerated. If his cancer was detected by a simple ultrasound at stage 1, He would still be alive today and I believe would have lived a long healthy life. I will fight new york state statute of limitations laws and change things until my dying breath, Matthew and all inmates deserve to be taken seriously when they are sick in jail/prison, I never want this to happen to another inmate or their family,
my sincere condolences to all who have lost a loved one at the hands of our justice system,
becky

Hi Baileybeck,
So sorry you lost your son Matthew to cancer. I really wish things could have been different. However, prisons are concerned with revenue, and healthcare cost equal loss of revenue, so our nation jails & prisons are in no rush to put life ahead of financial gain. I've talked to many inmates and one by one they tell you the same story, " If you get really sick in prison your as good as dead, nobody cares and nobody is going to help you". I'm so sorry your son had to suffer with cancer untreated until it took his life. My 26 y/o son died with a complete urinary blockage, his bladder was completely bloated full of urine. It makes me very upset that prison medical personnel just couldn't figure it out. Although they were told point blank by my son what was wrong with him. So this is not a matter of a really difficult case to diagnose, just a matter of medical professionals who didn't give a care........ I hurt so much when thoughts flood my mind of the amount of suffering he must have experienced during those final days of his life. I know you understand what I am saying because you too are living it. You are so right Becky, they should have found the cancer early, chances are they probably did know, but, in order to keep cost down, they fake ignorance and allowed Matthew, my son and countless other individuals like them to perish in horrible, painful, lingering death that could in many cases have been avoided. So you fight Becky, fight as hard as you can to hold prison officials in NY accountable for letting your baby die a slow painful death while they watched but, did nothing to help him. My son was denied emergency care while alive, but, once he stopped breathing and his heart quit beating, then prison officials felt it was an excellent time for emergency room care. PATHETIC !!!!! I am angry still because lives could be saved, but, jailers are just snatching the life away from people. Becky be strong, courageous and determined to find justice. LoveTGRIZ

Default Terrell Griswold gone 2 years

Terrell D Griswold died 10/28/2010 in Bent County Correctional Facility in Las Animas Colorado. When he died the family was called and told he had a heart defect. Then the medical records arrived and it was clear a urinary blockage was the real source of problem. The forensic pathologist Leon Kelly in Colorado Springs, appeared to have significant trouble carrying out a reliable thorough autopsy. Others professionals had to be called in by the family to review this case, and they DO NOT agree with the original autopsy.

Terrell was the eldest son, much loved by his family and longing to come home and see his infant baby sister who was born during the time he was away. Terrell did not got the chance to hold his baby sister, but, there is hope he will one day soon.......

"There is going to be a resurrection of the just and unjust" Acts 24:15

Think about you everyday, but, with hope
