I am completely confused with the differences at Carswell. I understand the Camp side and the Medical side, but do not understand the FMC Carswell "general population" side. Is there 3 distinct units with different security classifications?
My wife self surrendered last Friday to FMC Carswell. She has no medical issues and the inmate locator only said she was in FMC Carswell, so that didn't help me out either. I just cannot understand why they would put someone on the medical side, if they have no problems.
Could someone please explain the difference? Is there different living conditions, rules, privileges, food and communication?

My sister is at camp. Her info says FMC Carswell. There is one post office for the camp side and the medical side. Maybe that is the reason.
I do know that sometimes if a person is not from the US she could be considered a flight risk and put on the side with wires and not camp. My sister was on the medical side for a year (and not for med problems). Not sure why.
She had a roomy (when on the med side which has 1500 women) from Thailand and she couldn't go to camp (but I'm not sure if that is the reason--just food for thought).

I'm also going to be surrendering to FMC Carswell in late May. My paperwork said SPC in addition to the FMC Carswell stuff which I take to mean Satellite Prison Camp (and my pre trial services lady confirmed that). So I think you should see something that sayd SPC to know if she's in the camp or not. But, yeah, I'm sure you'll hear from her soon and confirm it. If she's in the camp I'd love to hear about her experience as I'll be joining her soon!! Good luck with everything!
