Why can't I chat? (Please READ the thread before you post.)

Why does the chat room tell me my user name or password is invalid
,this thing sucks.i can log into all other things but not chat why?

I am sorry if you are having trouble, the probably reason you are having trouble getting into chat is because you do not have 25 valid posts yet. Hope this helps a little:

PTO has a live chat system available to members that meet our minimum activity requirements (two weeks of membership and 25 valid posts on the PTO discussion board minimum). ALL PTO Policies are in force in the chat room regardless of whether or not a staff member is in the room. Our chat systems logs all communications that take place in the PTO chat rooms and should there be a report of abuse or policy violations, site administrators have the ability to review the transcripts. Abuse or PTO policy violations in the chat room may result in a loss of posting privileges and/or banning.

We have a zero tolerance policy relating to sexual activity in the chat room as well as abuses, and though we may not catch it when it happens or even the following days or weeks, when we do the people involved will be banned. Our chat room is about prisoner support and most of our members have a loved one in prison. If you are looking for love, you should seek it elsewhere.

Please understand that the PTO chat room is considered an "extra" to PTO. We encourage users to use the discussion forum, PTO's main purpose, for most of their communication on PTO."

that i have 26 post, so what is the difference between valid post and post?

in addition to 25 posts, you must be a member for 2 weeks.

Brian, you only reached 25 posts today, If you still cannot access the chat on Friday morning, let us know- depending on the time of day you joined, the time of day you met the requirements and the time the system refreshes, it can take a day or two for the system to recognize that you're eligible.


Tave2710, today is your two week date, so just as for Brian, if you're still having trouble on Friday, let us know.

You've been a member 2 weeks today. If you can't get into chat tomorrow, please either post here or pm a Moderator. Sometimes it takes the system a a minute to recognize that your two weeks in up.

Randys, this site attracts a lot of unwelcome attention in the form of trolls who love to dump on prisoners and the people who love them. Normally, they sign up just to be able to do it, but if they have to wait around two weeks and actually post, they usually just wither away and forget about it.

Because the chat feature is really just an "extra", the real purpose of PTO is in the forums and we want members to get familiar with that first and because we get a shocking number of people who are here for all the wrong reasons and the delay gives staff a chance to weed out bad apples, trolls, spammers and the occassional creep who thinks this is a good place to seek out companions for sexually explicit chatting.

Are there some changes in the works with the Chat? I notice today unregistered users are able to chat and anyone can come in. It seems that the requirements are cast aside for all to chat no matter if they're members or not. Can someone please explain this. Thanks!

With the search feature disabled, I can't check your stats....if you just posted your 25th post yesterday or today, you may be able to access chat tomorrow or the next day. The system has to recognize that you've posted the 25 posts requirements.

Disregard, read your earlier post. Have you downloaded the lastest java? If so, try clearing your cache and cookies.

Are you sure you're trying to access chat? The requirements are 2 weeks as a member and 25 posts.

My problem is not too similar here, but i'm having trouble accessing my statistics to view my thanked post. I can't even do that or some of the other things cuz it keeps saying searching has been disabled. Wat is going on w/ the website? It's been like that 4 the last few days? I can't even go to technical support to type about dis cuz searching is disabled.....how long is dis gonna last?

My husband and I were married on valentines day, and 2 months later he was sent away, Late at night is when it seems to be the hardest for me(it is 1am now). I log on to see if there is anyone on here to Chat with, I go to the chat room and it tells me that my user name is invalid and so is my password. Am I doing something wrong?

everytime I try to get into the chat room I am logged in but it is saying invalid user name and password, can anyone help?
