I don't actually know anything about why they went on lockdown, so don't assume this is why but...
The letter I got from my loved one at the beginning of the week said that the new warden and captain they have (who both came from high security facilities) are implementing a lot of new policies that are frustrating both inmates and CO's and he said it seemed likely that there would be fights soon.

If anyone hears anything further I'd love to know.

I spoke with my husband Wednesday afternoon and he forewarned me that they may be on locked down because some inmates basically went on a sort of hunger strike over some issues....one issue being that the lights are left on at night. I did hear from my husband today and his unit with some others have been given access to phones and showers but some other units are still on total lock down. I don't know how long it will last. I hope this helps!

That's good (well sort of anyway) if it was related to a hunger strike rather than fighting. My loved one specifically mentioned in his last letter that the "lights on 24 hrs" was one of the new policies the warden has brought that is causing a lot of tension. They also can no longer sleep past 6am, always have to wear boots, extra counts, etc, etc (according to his letter).

Default Hunger strike

I received letter on Sat from my guy who in in Elkton. He said there is a new warden who is implementing about 142 changes. So they went on a hunger strike as of the 18th. That is when he wrote the letter. Today is Monday, the 23rd, so I don't know if they are still on lockdown. I guess the best thing to do is to call them.

I haven't heard from Lou since in a letter postmarked Nov 8 which he had wrote on the 6th. We've been writing back & forth, he said the only reason they got married is so they couldn't testify against each other? Well, IDK wtf is go'n on but, he said they've never been "husband & wife" or had a "wedding night" that I asked him about. She lives in Bay City with her mother now. I said I'm done communicating til I see a divorce/annullment paper which the stupid bitch was supposed to do right after he was incarcerated. How are you do'n? Are they in lockdown then? Is it expensive to do the corr link e-mail or trulincs? Lou said it was very expensive & hard to get on the computer. See if he's feed'n me more bullshit, wanted to ask you. I'm not send'n him any$$ if he thinks that! Any info would be very helpful. He says he loves me more than ever & wants to work it out. How long does your guy hav to go? Happy Thanksgiving Yanyan, as happy as it can be I guess. I sit'n here totally alone, just ate breakfast. We had dinner at my sister's last night, just a very few, brother was in Kansas deer hunting like an ass, he has deer right in his back yard! Take care & hopefully will hear from you when you can!
Nancy
