Default Wedding at PCC

I would appreciate any information I can gather about getting married at Potosi. My fiance was just transferred there from Fulton and we have been waiting for his transfer to a camp so we could get married.

Is there anyone out there that married an inmate at Potosi who can help me determine what to do next?

I hear that the recorder of deeds will not come to the prison so weddings are not allowed at the camp but I know its within the inmate's rights to be married while incarcerated so I 'm not sure how that could be true.

Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!

HI, you or your fiance' will need to get a hold of the chaplain at the facility & get the wedding packet. I didn't get married at Potosi, i got married at another facility but MO prisons have the same process. More than likely you will be the one making the phone calls, arrangements, etc. it's much to hard for the men to do it inside. I took care of all of ours, all he had to do is sign when the recorder showed up.

It is within the inmate's rights to be married while incarcerated BUT safety & security of the institution will come first. The prison isn't denying the weddings necessarily but if the recorder refuses to go to the institution it's kinda dead in the water. The prison will have no say. They may be refusing to go out there any longer because of a prior incident or something. Call the recorder of deeds & see what the issue is & if it's a permanent thing or something temporary for now. You might have time to work out the kinks before fall gets here. The next wedding dates should be Sept. Good luck & be persistent or you'll never get it all worked out in time. They have time restrictions on every bit of the process.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate the information. He was told by another inmate that the recorder of deeds wouldn't come to the prison so hopefully the chaplain will be able to provide more specifics on getting around this in any way. I have no problem paying the recorder of deeds for their time so if it's a cost thing I'm not worried about that. He just got into population there at Potosi and hopes to meet with the chaplain this week for more details. I would love to see us get this worked out for the September wedding date. Thanks again.

Why are you rushing to get married while he's behind bars? Please don't do this. I did get married at Potosi, and if you can get married outside, it's worth waiting for. Otherwise, you're getting married in the non-contact visiting room, cold, no proper flowers, and they don't encourage it. If I could turn the clock back, I would. Wait until he's out, working, and you can plan a proper life. Otherwise, all you're signing up for is paying the phone bills, topping up his prison account, and having the demeaning situation of filing in the income/expenditure forms with the State to show how much of your income can be taken to cover the costs of fighting his case. There is NOTHING romantic about marrying an inmate in PCC.
