Default Starting Hormones June 6th

Im not sure where to post this, I'll try here, and if it needs to be moved I trust the mods will do so.
I have been on PTO a few years now, and alot of you know I have been VERY SLOWLY working towards my transistion.
After a year of therapy with a gender therapist, attending a male sex abuse survivors group, marking one year of maintaining sobriety, both my doctors have said Im ready to take the next step and on Monday I am going to Santa Cruz to see the doctor there at Planned Parenthood. Im starting hormones.
This is scary. This is WAY UNFAMILIAR.
I notice the road seems alot lonelier the further I keep moving, but I will keep moving. This is my journey and no one can walk it but me.
I will keep you all posted how things are going.
Thanks everyone who have been so supportive over the years, you know who you are.
xo!
Dana

The road may seem lonelier as you travel, but you will gain friends along the way as well. Remember, we all enter one another's life for a reason. It may be for a moment, or for longer. Cherish the travel, it will all be worth it in the end!

I have noticed one thing in the almost 3 years I have been on PTO. You are an amazing person who is smart, caring and a wonderful person. You have great advice and always have our best interests at heart. You are not as alone as you think you are. This community loves you and I for one are glad you are finally making yourself happy. You are already a beautiful person, this is just finishing the journey of Dana.
Good luck and God Bless you during your "Metamorphasis" into the beautiful butterfly you will become!

Dana, I am going to say a few things here... first, perhaps the road seems lonelier as you keep moving forward, but in truth no one can do this with you - this is something inside of you. This is for you not for anyone else. You don't need anyone with you becasue people will be 'with' you now and in the future because of the person you are.

You have had the strength to go this far, this is just going the next step. You just need to gather the strength to keep moving and keep you head held high.

I cannot ever say that I get or know what you are going through. This is why I have said many times in this forum that Trans-Identified is very different from Gay. I don't have a clue what you are personally going through because my journey has been very different. My journey has been one of being able to be out and proud but your journey challenges much more in society. Your journey is much different.

Just keep pulling from that inner strength and be proud of who you are and where you are and where you are going and as the book title says...'Don't Sweat The Small Stuff' or the small people...

Enjoy the journey because it won't end until the day you leave this world....

Hey, congrats on all the anniversaries! You have been really working, really making progress, and really discovering yourself, for that alone you should be lauded.

I have a friend going through transition on the hormonal level right now, though ftm, and all I can say is that it takes a really brave, really special person to voluntarily go through puberty a second time! But, unlike the last time, you'll have a much better idea of what to expect, as will those around you who need to know. But, unlike last time, this time around, your body will be changing in a way that you identify with, that makes sense and feels right to you. Hopefully, that will make the acne and emotional roller coaster a bit easier to handle (I imagine it will)

Congratulations on reaching this milestone in your journey. He'll, congratulations on all these recent milestones.

Dana, you have overcome some really huge obstacles to get to this wonderful point. Nothing ahead of you can possibly be as hard as being in the wrong body has been, so I think you will get through with the same grace and humor that you've used to get this far.

Love you!

Hey, Dana, sorry I did not get to chat with you yesterday.

Please take care of yourself. You know I worry about your health and the negative side effects of the hormones.

I wish you all the best. But, blood clots are not funny. We need you here.

The doctor called me today, and I was on the phone with my friend in Maryland who just lost her mom, and the doctor left a message that my lab work came back and my cholestral was way high...300, bp slightly elevated, and she wants to get the info on my history of blood clots.
She wants to change my bp medicine, get my cholestral down, get the nicotene out of my system... i see her again on July 13 so in that time i need to quit smoking, change my diet, and we will go from there.

Dana,

I am sure you already know that blood clots of any kind are nothing to mess with. Do they happen to know why you had the one in your lung before?

Since the Estrogen increases the risk of blood clots, they just want to do their due dilligence and make sure. Elevated cholesterol also increases clotting risk. And research has shown that smoking increases the clotting risk as well and prolongs the healing time too. So really this gives you the opportunity to 'tune up' a little so you can be in the best health possible as you go forward.

Have you thought about smoking cessation? I know some people have had good results with Chantix, and my son used the patches and said they really helped with the cravings.

Blessings and prayers, one step closer!

I had taken Amtrak back east, and I guess I didnt get up enough and walk around? I was feeling bad, so I flew back to Los Angeles, then got hospitalized and they found out I had pnemonia and found the clot in my lung.
Yes, Im familiar with smoking cessation, my one patient has quit with chantix and seeing a coach once a month and Ive gone with him.
My doctor has given me wellbutrin...I am on sponser care from the local hospital, but they wont pay for chantix.
But you are right this is a great time to get myself HEALTHY!

OK, so it doesn't sound like that should cause any long-term problems, cause you can prevent that from happening in the future.

Hope things are going well!
