Lala I realize this is your first time dealing with corrections. You need to understand that you're playing in their sandbox now. We all think that we have some control the first time we go through this, but dealing with prisons and their employees is unlike anything you'll ever go through.

First of all, DRDC is not is charge of moving him. Offender Services handles inmate movement. Each facility has someone in charge of moving inmates around. A lot of things depend on movement. a) his points b) sentence length c) co-defendants (if any) d) other inmates they cannot be housed with e) STG's (security threat groups aka gangs) f) bed availability...the list goes on and on.

I talked to Offender Services the other day and the guy in charge of inmate movement at CMRC is on vacation until Monday. That means my husband is not likely to get moved any time in the next two weeks. They are also short on bed space so my husband will probably stay at CMRC until his community corrections application has been reviewed by the county boards. My husband is ready to go back to CTCF, he wants his tv back and to go back to work because he's bored where he is. I know your guy is feeling the same way but they both need to put up or stay the hell out of prison.

Just some advice, stop calling DRDC because they have no control over when he gets moved. Inmate Locator updates every night except weekends because they don't do moves on weekends. Use that instead of calling them. You will most likely hear from him as soon as he's moved, they'll let him make calls when he gets out for free time.

He's been there for 3 weeks, he should be getting moved soon.

Since he's been there I've only called twice because my internet was messing up and I couldn't look on inmate locater. That's definitely how I feel about him going to prison, I'm sooo pissed at him it's crazy, because he's going for dumb shit, but the other side of me loves him a lot and wants to be there, but like I told him he better straighten up while he's there because if he f*cks up again, I'm washing my hands because as much as I love him I have better things to do than deal with the prison system its exhausting.

LOL...I think we've all said that. Yes it's exhausting but you'll find a routine. I did it once before for 20 months and now we're on month 37 out of a 6 year sentence. And yep it's dumb shit but the cops and da's don't care because that's how they justify their budget. Prison is really a cake walk it's parole that's a real pain in the ass.

I know nothing about parole, everybody tells me something different. some say its not horrible, some say it sucks ass, who knows... I just know i'm not going to continue to let this situation keep stressing me out b-cuz honestly there's not much I can do about it,all I can do is try to make him as comfortable as possible while he's there and I hope he understands that.

My loved one was in DRDC last June and it took a month for him to move. It will just happen and when it does and you will get a call probably from CTCF from him. Hang in there it is tough.

I've sent him some letters, but i'm not sure if he's received them, and yes it is very tough not knowing what is going on. What is CTCF??

Colorado Territorial Correction Facilty. Most of them transition through cell house 5 there. They go there first and then are transported to their assigned facilty.

He should be getting your letters. It is tough for them to get stuff to write with for a bit at DRDC. It is a very hard time for both the inmates and all of us. It is scary not knowing.

So once they leave DRDC they go to CTCF, for how long? And when they get there how long does it usually take before they are able to call? sorry for all the questions i'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

My loved one called the first day he was there. He called as soon as he got time out of his cell. He was there for about 4-5 days. He was quite relieved to get out of DRDC. It is a hellish place. You can expect quite a bit of anxiety for a while.

Thanks, I really appreciate you answering my questions. He's been there almost three weeks so I hope he gets transferred this week. I just really want to talk to him, I would usually talk to him every other day when he was at arapahoe so this is like hell for me.

He can also transition through YOS. It's the youth boot camp and they also have transition cells there. It just depends on what part of the state they are sending him to. I believe if he's sent to a private prison, he's sent directly there from DRDC. If it's a state facility he'll transition through cellhouse 5 or YOS.

You will learn patience with this. DOC works at their own pace and don't give a damn about you. Take a deep breathe and just relax and don't let this upset you. Time will go by quicker than it seems and you will be in contact with him.

I have a question about DRDC, The judge gave my fiance credit for time served at county jail. On inmate locator, it doesn't show credit for the 5 months at county jail. Does anybody know if that is something they fix at DRDC or would it be handle when it gets sent to where ever he is going. I wrote to him and told him that it is not right on inmate locator and they had it wrong before he even went because they had him on jailback log. So he knows I just want it fixed so he gets credit. He doesn't need to give them more time then needed, if you know what I mean.

Was he on parole when his new offense occurred? If so then the 5 months of jail time was credited toward his parole. Even if the Judge said he was serving his parole and new sentence concurrently, that's an illegal sentence. It's up to CDOC to determine how to apply the jail time credit.

If he wasn't on parole, then you'll have to get a copy of the mittimus from the court clerk and fax it to Time Comp to get his time calculated correctly. Sometimes the court paperwork doesn't show up at DRDC at the same time the offenders do.
