Not only is this incredibly inhumane...it's driven by ignorance! Not only do we need to write to the assemblypeople, we need to get some sort of media coverage that promote this program. My husband, who has been incarcerated for almost 20 years, tells me that this is the only program people have to look forward to or to strive to change for. They live to have a couple days with their parents, children, grandparents, siblings, wives, etc. There isn't much else to live for when you have a life sentence. It is incredibly hard to watch the smallest amount of hope be taken away from people who already have so little to live for. On top of this, these new visitation rules that they would like to implement that allow no contact at all. There are tons of studies involving human touch and what the lack of it does to mental and physical health. It feels as though we are going back in time in our policies to care for our less fortunate human beings. I'm writing the assembly members, the commissioner and the governor...plus the lt. governor Duffy. Our voices have to be heard or we will watch this slide by.

please look up the other threads on this. It did not happen. The legislature is out till January.

Keep an eye here--if it comes up again, you will see it here along with ideas of who to write to--

Ok the New York senate yet again passed the bill to terminate FRP's. The session ends June 30th. Let's pray it stalls yet again in the assembly ! Now bozo Senator Nozzolio
is saying it's about saving money not about sex. Well lets see the trailers are bought and paid for. The upkeep in nominal. The 4 million is mostly payroll for correctional officers. So he's saying this money could be used for job creation. When the real issue is the declining inmate population. They want them fighting and getting more time. They want them violent and in prison. It's doubtful this will pass. But let's just pray.
