Default Intro--Numskull357 from Colorado

My name is Adam, I'll start by saying I haven't been able to sleep much in the last couple of weeks. My fiancé has recently been incarcerated in Boulder, CO. Yesterday we found out she is looking at a 18 month prison term. I have never been in this situation with someone so close. I'm not feeling so good right now and I'm a little freaked out about it. I found this sight surfing the web and I'm hoping it well help me cope with this.

Welcome and good morning, Adam!

If you go up to the forum tab (just under "PRISON TALK"), you will get a list of all the forums on the site. There are several that might apply to you - Wives and Girlfriends, assorted Colorado sub-forums, General Prison Talk and a few others. (Normally, I'd post the links, but my 'puter is being cranky.) Anyway, scrolling through all of that will certainly allow you to decide where to land. Just click what looks suitable.

Enjoy

Thank you all, I write her everyday and get a letter from her everyday, they help a lot. We try to talk on the phone as much as possible, that gets expensive. I visit her at least once a week, for 30 minutes behind a thick glass window and a stupid pay phone receiver. That is the hardest part I can't even kiss her, hug her, or touch her, and seeing the pain in her eyes.

Aw, hon... that's so frustrating. I've been there. I'm assuming she's still in county jail? As weird as it sounds, it gets better when they go to prison... More freedom, contact visits, probably cheaper phone calls (PTO members can give you great advice on how to get the cheapest calls in your state!). Stay busy, keep those letters going, and keep coming to PTO. When my guy first went in, I spent hours and hours just reading on here. Getting more information about the reality of his situation really helped alleviate my fears and anxiety. Knowledge is power, you know. Take care, Adam.

Thank you so much, I love researching and have found a lot of info in the Internet, this is by far the best sight I have found yet. I have spent the last few hours just reading the posts on the sight and it is most definitely useful and very helpful. I don't think I could have found a better place.

Adam, so sorry to hear that your girlfriend is locked up. If she has already been sentenced, at least the clock is ticking which means she is closer to being home. Usually they do not serve their whole sentence. I do not know about Colorado, (check out their forum) but her in Texas they are serving around 25-35% if the charge is not aggravated, and around 50-60% if it is. So, even tho she got 18 months, she will not serve all of that. And the time she serves in county should count as good time too. Visit her as often as you can now cause once she gets tranferred, visits are cut down greatly. You can get through this, and we are here to help you!

She hasn't been sentenced yet, her charge is aggravated and she was on probation, it doesn't look good at this point.

No it doesnt look good huh? where are you getting the 18 months? Is that the first plea offer? If so, then that does not sound all that long. I know any time apart seems like forever but in reality, it really is not long when talking bout prison terms. Just support her and let her know that you are behind her and write often. You can go to JPAY https://www.jpay.com/login.aspx?Retu...2fdefault.aspx, and send an email everyday if you want for the price of one stamp. If you send it during the morning, they usually get it the same day. AWESOME site!!
