My boyfriend just recently got moved to the halfway house next to the prison. I'm going to visit him this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any information on the visits..are they contact visits, how long are they, are there lockers to put your stuff in, dress code? Any information is helpful! Thank you! (:

Hi DaynaJ, Welcome to PTO! And please allow me to Congratulate both you and your BF for his being one more step closer to home! That's great news! I also want to apologize for not answering your questions right away, as you can see under my user name I am currently on Leave of Absense (though I do check in from time to time).
I personally have no experience with the halfway house in Concord, But I do know which one you mean. Over the years however I have spoken to several and have met a few though PTO that have been there, so with my own limited knowledge, maybe I can help. Yes!!! There is contact visits! And yes, you may bring to him food from the outside. There is limilted space for storage, so be frugal at first (in time you'll know the routine). It is a laid back atmosphere, your bf will be allowed to seek work/work, but there is a time constraint as to how long he can be out. He will be given the rules (policy/procedures) and will learn more as time progresses. There is an account that will be established in his name and he will be given a certain allowance from his own pay. The rest is like a bank account that can/will build-up for expenses once released. There's the regular routines established within the home amoung the other inmates; taking turns in house keeping, etc. There is also allowances for programs within Concord for AA/NA, etc. as well.
Hey! I wish you two the very best and am glad for your first visit.
I am also glad you found us here at PTO!!!
Cactus~

My man and I are in Oregon, so this doesn't apply to this halfway house. I was wondering, though, what rules are like for all halfway houses. My mother-in-law mentioned for Sponsors in Eugene, they aren't allowed to have sex while they're housed there. That they'll do a lie detector test when they go inside everyday. Does this sound correct? At least for other places too.
