Default Bluegrass Cafe August 2011

This is the summer that never ends, it just goes on & on my friend

Welcome to August, traditionally the hottest and miserablest month of the year.....its already been hot and miserable, so hopefully August will see a downturn in the temps.

If I've kept my dates (and my memory) straight, we had 3 Homecomings in July and will have another in September (more on that later).

Jemison is expecting company this month....YEA!!! Her daughter and grandbaby are coming down from Canada. Darion is (better be!!) toeing the line after exerting his independence . I hope Dana can find a better job, one that will lead to an even better job so she doesn't have to struggle so much.

armyswife: I hope your friend has come to his senses. What a shame I'm sure he'll appreciate that you'll to take his kids to visit. How are YOU doing?

deons: How's the man? Is there a second surgery scheduled? Or is the first one gonna take care of it? Ouch! Both physically and financially. How are B & D adjusting to the man being home? How are you & the man adjusting to the man being home

sass: Guess you'll be back to work full-time this week? Or still on the 1/2 week schedule for one more week? How's "A" doing? Are you visiting anytime soon?

We've had a few new members posting in the Ky forum....now to get them to post in the Cafe

Well, its late, or early, however ya wanna look at it ....I'm heading to bed.

Let's have GOOD week.....stay as cool as possible and stay safe!

This surgery is supposed to take care of his arm and wrist. Not sure yet if physical therapy will be needed. But of course, he's hard headed and isn't following the docs instructions. He's supposed to keep it elevated and ice it, which he does neither. The pain and the heat are wearing him out, so he's sleeping a lot. His 2 youngest want to move in with us but we have decided that we want to make sure we are straight first. We also want to look for a bigger house. Financially, this is killing us and we need to talk about finances. B is adjusting pretty good. He wishes the man would stay home more often. Mainly B is bored because his best and pretty much only friend moved out of the neighborhood. They used to do everything together, now B feels lost. D has been talking about moving out for quite a while. Well yesterday, he came and got some of his things and his cat! I almost freaked out at the thought of him really moving out even though he is rarely here. But I know I have to let him go. If his decision had anything to do with the man, I'm not aware of it. As far as me, I am exhausted all the time. Between my classes, work and the man being pretty much helpless, I feel drained. Not to mention, he always wants to talk (or you know) at 1 or 2 in the morning! My anxiety attacks are getting better. We are both trying hard to adjust and have both agreed we aren't giving up on each other!

Yeah jemison, since I'm working 2nd shift I'm usually on till the wee hours of the morning...which reminds of what deons said about "talks" (or you know ) and 1 or 2 in the morning...I'm more of a 3-4 a.m. person That's when I like it best .

Glad Darion is back to normal an do hope Dana is able to find a new job soon!

deons, tell the man if he don't take of that arm now, he'll pay dearly down the line Yep, ya gotta let the kids grow up and do their own thing....but its hard when they first move out

Surely this heat can't last much longer, or at least I hope not. I'm rather partial to Oct/Nov weather myself

Happy late birthday to John!

Take care of YOURSELF deons. I know its hard but you should come first.

patch - you crack me up! Getting older, "it" doesn't matter to me anymore (and I'm alone too lol) but in my younger days....morning, noon and night!!!

i'm doing much better jem. I went to work today, the nurse will come tomorrow and Saturday. The doctor should release me Monday when I see him. What started as an 1 1/4 inch hole is now no deeper than a hyphen according to the nurse yesterday! Woohooo!!!! Back to me in no time!

Hello!! I'm doing fantastic!! I'm glad to hear everyone here is doing well. Myself I love this heat, love summer! I hate to see it dwindling down. My son turns 11 next week. He's really excited. He's on vacation now with his granny! I miss him but enjoying this time. Exercising like crazy and catching up on some things at work.
Well i don't know where the "friend" is. We haven't talked and i haven't seen him. Oh well!! It is what it is. I do have moments when I get sad and wonder what he's up to. Then I snap out of it. He'll never turn himself in but eventually he'll be found and face the music. I just wish he realized that crime doesn't only run the risk of prison Time it also leads to death at times! Ugh poor thing his head's not screwed on right, x

Well shoot ya'll. I thought I posted in here yesterday I guess the Post Ghost got it

Hey JIMMYS!! Long time no see...yes please keep us updated. Sorry about the divorce, but it sounds like ya'll are still friends and that's important too. Stop by more often

jemison: Happy Belated Birthday to John I know what you mean about "getting the house together." Mine's a mess and I can't seem to make any headway; the garden is a mess, but its not shaded until late (late) in the day and I'm either at work or in class.

sass: What do ya mean by "it" doesn't matter anymore Its good for ya!! Next g2g perhaps we should visit a toy store instead of doing lunch

army's: Exercise! The more you do, the better you feel. The better yoiu feel , the more you do Glad you've some quiet time to yourself...that can really be exuberating!! Sorry about the man sweetie....how frustrating/dissappointing for you and for him

deons: How's everyone at your place? Shoot, with the man's arm banged up, he's not gonna be able to find a job for while, is he? That's got to hurt....as if everone isn't already broke

I'm trying to get on daywork....the boss had been gone for about 6 weeks, so there was no new schedule posted, we all just worked the one that was up week after week. He did get back Wednesday, so I've talked to him. Now let's see what the new schedule looks like......hopefully he'll have one posted when I go in this afternoon.

Morning

Happy Thursday!

Patch- Yes track & wrestling but NO football this year...during track last year...they made him choose between track or football and he was already into track so he just stuck with that so now no football this year and i think that sucks! big time. OH but they dont want them in 2 sports at once ..cause they want them to concentrate on one and one only?..bull crap to me...lol...i just think thats awful...cause now he has to sit out a whole yr of football...crazy rules

Well Dana found out that she has whats called syatica (?) something like that... its her syatic nerves inflamed...OUCH!!!...she can barley stand to have capris on and she said its burns like crazy and she feels like her leg is on fire! Id say its all that standing she does ALL day long.

So how is everyone doing? we all are a mess on our end...lol for the last couple days weve all had some kind of stomach virus...not even eating the same thing just passing it back and forth....lol

If i dont talk to yous before the weekend have a good one...Later ya'll

We are all a mess too! The man has given up on doing anything except running around with his kids. He gets so frustrated trying to do things left-handed. The doc finally moved the brace down under his elbow, so he can at least bend his arm now. Still not much function other than a little wiggling in his fingers. B is at my mom's and D moved out. One of the kids I was close to at church died today. It was some kind of virus and it caused his organs to shut down. He was only about 15 and my heart breaks for his family and friends. I know I will truly miss all the smiles he put on my face.

Oh Jemison I hope Dana gets better, I had a bad case of sciatica. Months of physical therapy oh it was awful. It was so bad that when the EX was released in December I couldn't even make the hour drive to pick him up. I couldn't drive more than
25 minutes or so.
I hope all is well with everyone, I'm good! Just relaxing and enjoying the end of summer. The EX is still being dumb. He calls it making his bed and laying in it. I told him NO, laying in your bed means stop being a coward and turn yourself in. I have not seen him since the end of July. He Is not allowed here. I can't risk him being here and the police show up. Wow!! I can't believe this happened but oh well.like I said he just can't function "out here".
Have a great weekend.

So much going on in my lifr, just don't know where to begin. I decided I was going to start taking care of me and quit the overtime and took a different job that was not as physically hard on me. Then, Mister and I had a chat (mostly me) and gave the ultimatum, Get a job or get out. Then he got sick (was sick for 3 weeks) and the the hospital part of that. I now have a HUGE hospital bill, and my employers decided that that the person who had left the job I now have, wants it back and they gave me less than 2 weeks notice before I will either be out of a job or have to take one working on the hospital unit. I am not physically able to do that but have to have a job. Been so upset over it all and more depressed now than ever. My son says come home but that takes money and have to get a job there as well. This coming up week is the last week of my one job before I have to go to the one on the unit. I am so angry and depressed, I just don't know what to do. I am terrified of going back doing the old work - not done it in years due to my health and inability to do it physically. They think I am so wonderful and caring and such a great employee but they do me like this. I guess we all do what we have to, just to survive. I will give it a try I guess. No other options. He still has no job or prospects. Really has been too ill to even try in his defense ( seldom come to his defense anymore). Sorry to unload on you wonderful ladies. Oh, yeah, had to cancel my vacation to come home too. That hurt, too. Been a long time since I have seen my babies. Thanks for listening. I know all of you have your own problems - they just all seem to come crashing down at once sometimes don't they? Hopefully something will work out. Take care of yourselves and I pray that you all are doing well. I know I am ready for some cooler temperatures myself. Like Patch, I like the fall weather the best. Thanks again for listening (or in our case, reading and understanding). I think we have all been there in one way or another.

I can't believe how quickly this month is going. I'm going north today to watch my nephew play peewee football. Love watching those littles play! Weather seems nice so far, no heat and hopefully no storms!!!

KyGal- it hurt my heart to read that. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I had a situation like that too. My ex got so sick in January and February. In jNuary he was admitted to the hospital but the bill is in his name. I took time off work to care for him. In February I begged him for three weeks to go to the doctor because he coughed all night every night. Night sweats, vomiting everything! Finally he went because I forced him to and I paid for it all. Ugh!! Be strong and I hope things get better for you!!

Hello folks,

It is nice reading about the events going on in KY. Patch, and Sass, you both have been a wealth of information. Thank you for all you and the others do here.

Just to update....I just came off of probation in June. I lost my job last year, so have been on unemployment since. I am hoping/praying to find something soon, as my unemployment runs out in a few months.

It has been a rather lonely time, and though I'm a very positive person - I do suffer from depression that can be quite severe at times - this is one of those times.

If anyone has any employment ideas, please pass them along. Anything in the Boone/Kenton/Campbell area. I have years of sales management exp. My 17 yr old daughter is going through a very difficult time, and just came from inpatient care for depression/cutting/drinking so I have been taking her to all her appointments, and doing everything I can to support her. The place we live in sucks, but it was the only place that would rent to us. To many bad influences for teens. I'm hoping to make a move to the country when I'm back to work.

I guess that's about it for now. If I can be of help to anyone, please let me know.

Take care.

RM

Hello RainMan Glad you've found the Cafe! Pull up a chair, prop your feet up and sit a spell

I know how ya feel about being on probation, losing a job, drawing that unemployment and unruly kids--only mine is 26 and still my problem child.

I lost my job when I picked up my one & only felony, but did get unemployment for almost 2 years....and because of my newly acquired felony, I've been black-balled from my profession and am currently working part-time/minimum wage at a convenience store But its a job. Its enough to make anyone depressed One step at a time, one day at a time. Can your charges be expunged now that probation is over? I'm on felony diversion, expungable after completing my probation (in 2014), I just gotta hold on till then.

Keep in mind that there is always some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. It may be small now, a glimmer, but its there.

I know we all have our own things going on in our lives and everyone here is so supportive of each other. I am just taking it day at a time. Going to see therapist this week to help get through it. Got a note from HR today, thanking me for taking it all as well as I have (ie: not raising cain or bad mouthing anyone). That would only ensure that I would not have a job at all. I will get by some how - with the help of my friends here at PTO. All my co-workers are appalled and supportive too. If it gets too tough, I will take short term disability and see where that leads me. I have starting putting in applications other places as well. Right now making myself put one foot in front of the other and will eventually get there. I have pretty much decided to work on moving closer to family (son and grandchildren) when I can get the money and a job to do so.

Patch, Sass, Jemison, Deons, Armys - You are all great ladies and deal with plenty of issues of your own. I don't mean to leave anyone out so please, if I did not list your name, don't be offended. The whole Bluegrass/PTO group is awesome. We have all gone through hard times together.

Rainman - Welcome to the group. Sounds like you also are dealing with more than your share. The group is full of information - our own pool of resources and ideas. Wishing you the best and hope your situation improves soon. Kids, both grown and those still at home, can be a pain but we continue to love them and are there for them. Good luck to you.

I guess I better try to catch some zzz's. I was informed that my last day will now be Wednesday instead of Friday - they signed me up for some classes since I have not worked on the units for over 12 years and I insisted on some training. Things do change with all the technology. Have a great week everyone!

Thank you for the kind welcomes, ladies.

Patch, I'm the one that came off of my completing my 5 yr probation, and tried to get expunged. It was a 1st degree trafficking conviction. I sold some of my personal pain pills to a relative, who was working for local task force. I was wrong, and admitted my guilt, and did my time - while trying to help others. For not having any kind of record, it was a shame that it was an election year, and as such, the prosecutor would not deal at all in reducing the charge, which would have allowed for expungement. As it sits, that cannot happen, so I'll have to find a work around.

Life is kind of hitting me square in the face. I lost my father in April, a dear friend who worked for me this month, and a life time of depression that I have realized just how much I have missed/lost over the years. I'm reconnecting with some old high school friends, who I lost contact with over 20 yrs ago, as I couldn't deal with the emotional pain, and that I felt, "different", while everyone my age was moving on to successful careers, etc.

I appreciate your examples in how your overcoming, and moving on....awesome attitude, and fortitude, ladies. I commend you, and will certainly add you to daily prayers. I'm not one to do the "poor me". I have just felt like I've woken up after 25 yrs, to a life of people I really missed all these years, and just didn't know how to ask for help, and then accept that help.

Take care everyone. It is nice to be part of a group of great folks, who are living, and doing the right things in life.

Welcome RAINMAN, and Please..Please do NOT feel alone!...cause believe me your not...

Im here cause my daughter copped 9yrs..(first offense/first charge) has NEVER been in trouble before..talk about being slapped in the face!!!..I almost fainted in the court room when i heard the sentence!!..Could not believe it!...yes she was guilty of picking up her husband after he had escaped, but she has PAID dearly for that choice...Now like you and others she has a VERY hard time finding work and gets very depressed. Shes learned to take one day at a time and hope it works out. Her first job after her release was a convenience store for 3 yrs (cause they are the only ones who would hire her)...so BELIEVE me when i say...I understand how you feel.....we all been there one way or another.

She is one of my 4 children second to the oldest but i will stand behind any of them thru thick and thin. We all make mistakes..the hard part is getting back up.

and trust me i have BIG shoulders so anytime you need to talk vent or cry we are here to listen. NO ONE JUDGES ANYONE HERE.
These awsome woman help me thru my time of need and im sure they can help you too as well.

I too have a teenager 16...OMG...but ive been here and done this before...ill make it thru. my other children are 35, 33, 30
